Why do they do them? Do you click on them? Do you buy those products? Or like me, does it just make you as irritated as hell with that company and resolve never ever to buy their stuff? I class pop ups with the shower of junk mail that comes through my letter box and the sheaf of loose papers that falls out of every magazine I buy, fit only for the recycling bin. Yet someone must take notice or they wouldn't do it?

    I don't click on them.
Why should I? I don't own cards so I can't buy anything online.

[IMG] Clicking on them gives Tal money. Some of them anyway. Is that so much to ask?

And yes some does notice them else they wouldn't be there. *lol*

If it is a poll I don't buy but I click away just for Tal ;)

[IMG] For the millionth time, I don't get *any* money from the ads, unless they're Amazon and you buy something through them. Currently such banners are only in two forums on the boards. Everywhere else the ads are from our host, and what money they bring in, it's theirs.

As for pop-ups, I hate them with all my soul. The thing is, they're the only decently paid form of advertising on the net these days, just because they're so intrusive. The fact that they don't work obviously hasn't sunk in yet.

Anyway, those pop-ups that were slipped in recently were supposed to show once per day only. But no form of such code has ever worked. I myself kept getting new ones on the same page even. I got rid of them as soon as I could.

So again, if you want to support SP, buy stuff from Amazon through our links or banners. That's the only way I get something from it.

[IMG] A question regarding Amazon then. I've bought stuff from them in the past, and am intending to again. And as it appears it'd make no difference to myself I'd have no problem going through that. However the questions, is it only possible through the direct links to products (i.e. if I started searching for something else) would it lose track of how I arrived there? And does it only work through the branches of Amazon I've actually seen up here (US and German), whereas I'd go through the British one?

[IMG] All three major Amazons are at your disposal for this: .com, co.uk. and .de.

More info is available here: http://www.sorcerers.net/Books/index.php

In a nutshell, you could just click that Amazon.co.uk button on that page, and bought anything from there and I'd get a small percentage of it. Easy as that. The only thing that matters is that you arrive at the Amazon store by clicking one of those buttons. (That's for items I don't have listed on SP.)

Of course, if I do have the stuff you want to buy listed on SP (like books or games), it's much preferrable that you click on those links already made. It's easier for you, and it gets me a bit higher percentage.
If you read that page I linked above, you'll see that whatever you place in your shopping wagon will stay there as long as a single Amazon page is open (and I think now it even stays there if you close them all and come back later). So you could just pick the items I have direct links to off SP, and then click on the button and continue shopping for stuff that's not on SP.

I hope that didn't sound too complicated. :D
If you have any more questions, just ask.
