I was thinking of a party of tanks:

Me (Undead slayer)
Minsc
Keldorn
Mazzy
Valygar/Anomen
Jaheira

Will this work or will i need some mage support - and is it possible to kick imoen out after rescuing her.

 

Your party need at least one theif to disarm trap or unlock chest, without a good theif in the party your group will die horribly, and to have a full advantage in the game you will also need a mage. Magic is fun and you should try it.

 

Out of interest why would a party die horribly without a theif?

 

i don't think it should be to much of a problem, but hey, flinging magic missles at people every few seconds is just plain fun!!

 

ya, u can always forcer locks and if u have anomen or a paladin u can cast find traps....

ur right though mage ARE fun...

Tanks be rearming traps with blade and boot!
It be possible, but fighter/thief be useful in this case as main char

 

I think i'll get minsc and jaheira to start with, then get jan (to make up for imoen). Then ill get keldorn and valygar. I'll do valygar's planar sphere quest, then dump him for anomen. I'll do his quest, then dump him for mazzy.
Il have Me (US), Minsc, Keldorn, Mazzy, Jaheira, Jan.
Then i'll have 4 fighters (one with a never failing dispel magic ability, one with cool archery abilities, one with immunity to vampire spells, and one with a hilarious attitude and a hamster) i then have jaheira for cleric abilities and backup fighting, and mage/thief abilities with Jan.

When i rescue imoen, i'll decide who i like more; her or jan and keep the winner.

 

Ech, take Nalia over Jan. Nalia's thief skills may be worse, but she can disarm traps, and open locks, and that is really what you are missing. Plus, she is a far better mage.

 

I would srongly sugest you pic jan over naila. he's a multi class so he gains levels in both thief and mage. Plus heis a speacalest mage so he can remeber more spells. I have jan in my group first i put pionts in his pick pocet up to 120 something( so i could steall stuff from shops)then i raised his lock picking to 105. Then i raised his stealth and his quietness(forgot what its called)and i gave him cloak of elven kind and boots of elven kind. Plos all his other speacil items. he can now backstab 70 points of damage with shortsword plus 4. He can now open chest pick pocket people( very important)steal from shops.Adn cast spells all in one. Nalia isjust basicall a mage. If you think pick pocket is not usefull you are very wrongif you pickpocket the right people. i got ring of regeneration from Ribald( adventures mart) how do you think i got that? pickpocketing RIbald with Jan. picking Naila would be a stuped choice.

 

I Must agree with Icecold.. With a party of tanks you don't need much offensive spells, Jaheira can boost your party abilities a bit.

 

I now have Undead slayer with 100% resistance to fire - dragon shield, sword and armour.

Minsc with sarevok's sword + the armour that the radiant heart give you.

Keldorn with Carsomyr and his family armour.

Valygar dual wielding CF and Katana+2.

Jaheira with a sling +2, i'm only keeping her for the fact that she's a good back up fighter, her druid spells and the romance.

Jan (Yawn...Ha!) with his flash banger launcher (hehe.)

I'm about as powerful at 9th level as my original party when they were level 16.

 

When you wanna play some tanks, use a paladin with carsomyr, minsc dual wielding flail of the ages / celestrial fury a fighter with daystar and the equalizer, and you really need a mage to dispel shields.......... (how would you kill a lich without the possibility to dispel the portections first?)

 

I play an all-tank party now, with my halfling cavalier Donaldus, Keldorn, Minsc, Mazzy, Jaheira and Imoen as my mage/ thief (and only soft target).

They kill everything fast and without getting hurt too much. I never had such a massed striking power in one party.

 

Jareira (ac -9) (level 10 or so)
Minsc (Lilcanor) (Lvl 9)
Valygar (Flail of Ages + His katana) (just found him in Umar hills cabin.)

Beats all

I go in trianlge, Jareira as 1st. All monsters attack her. minsc does from 2nd line. Valygar from behind. Jareira Doesnt need a weapon at all. Just stands and parries attacks... Is this a game exploit? Any way monsters need better AI. They always attack whom i want (JAreira with her -9 ac) and she hasnt been hit but once when was attacked by 3 skeleton warriors)
