Team work?

    [​IMG] As some of you may know, resently I've taken on coaching a hockey team. As this is the first time I've done something like this, it's been going great sofar. Although, just resently I've come across a problem, which I need help with. Two of the team mates do NOT get on. They are constantly bickering and fighting, which is not something any team needs.

    Now, I'm not wanting to make them into best friend, but for the team to work to it's fill extent they need to be able to work together.


    So, what I'm looking/asking for, is if anyone knows any great team building exercises. What would be particually good would be ones that cannot be done without them communicating, descussing and working together to acheive the outcome.

    Well, you could watch Mighty Ducks 2. The part where the coach tied the team together to make them move as one.

    Basically, make them rely on eachother. If they don't like eachother, then they will respect eachother.

    You first of all want to find out what is wrong with the guys. Don't they generally like each other? Are they competing for similar positions in the team? Following that it might be easier to find a way to remedy the problem. It will be important to make them understand that they have to work together for the good of the game and that their constant fighting does not only keep them from becoming better players, but also harms the success of the team.

    Which age group are the players on the team? Are we talking about teens, adults, females, males?

    There is a bunch of team exercises that aim at getting people to rely on each other, bonding people towards a common good etc. Very popular are the outdoor exercise parks where people (e.g. managers and their employees, soccer teams) can only finish a task if they work together and rely on each other (e.g. balancing on a rope 15 feet above the ground only secured by your most hated team member). Again, I think it is important to find out what the issue is. Maybe it is just the girl/boy from next door they both have crush on etc. and then you probably don't need to think on big scale team forming exercises/workshop weekends.
