What kind of tech invention do you think would affect daily life most?

i think a pill or sth (without side affect) that would make 3 hr sleep feel like 8-10 hr would change everything (inspired by the Limited Wish spell- 8 hr rest option :) ).

A TV that lets people watch different shows on the same set. That way, one person can click while the other can watch what they want without disruption...

A dream recorder. Wouldn't mind watching some of those weird-but-made-sense-at-the-time episodes I have in my head at about 2 in the morning.

A device that lets you pause time for everyone but yourself. Total havoc!!!

Dream recorder for sure. None of this try-and-remember-but-forget-the-important-parts crap.

In addition to this - something that gives you lucid dreams ... well, there are things like this, but they sound kinda expensive and would probably make everyone in my house think I'm a loon...

Of course - this wouldn't affect daily life all that much, but meh - I want one anyway.

I find that I never get enough sleep so Misanthrope's idea sounds great.

What I would really like is some sort of device that converts musical ideas in your heard into guitar tab! My biggest frustration is having great musical ideas, but not being able to implement these ideas with my guitar or keyboards.

I would say a teleporter, or maybe more of a pocket of portable space (P.O.P.S.) that I could open and close anywhere. I could use it to move around like nothing else.

*Jaguar uses his P.O.P.S. to sneak into chev's house and steal his thong collection*

One o' them new talkin' picture boxes, with all the bright lights and whirly clicky bits and things. Them's purdy. But with another cup holder, so's I can have mah tea *and* mah soup.

    @Cesard
I know what you mean. It would be nice if it did that for other music, too, so you didn't have to spend ages working stuff out.
Damn these people like Richard Thompson, who carries around a notebook while he's walking his dog... thinks of a nice-sounding chord... and writes the thing down. Note-perfect. Grr.

Aye, a device enabling me to separate body from spirit. The body is safely tucked away and the spirit/soul wanders free.

Traveling without moving (and without magic mushrooms).

How about something that lets your body recharge while you're doing other things (like spamming--er posting here on SP)?

Something to let you get by with less sleep would be excellent - the time stopping device would be good for this:
    1-feel tired
    2-stop time
    3-sleep for 10 hrs
    4-wake up
5-hit everyone on the back of the head
    6-turn time back to normal

I have one of those. Almost never use that dual-tuner feature, though.

I like the teleporter idea that a few people have mentioned.

To give a name to this time stop device...which I to would like...I shall call it "Bernard's Watch", in honour of the TV show of the same name in which this idea is implimented :D ...

But other than Bernard's Watch, I would like interstellar Travel...or a really uber computer!...or batteries that know when NOT to run out :p

But seriously the thing I think that would affect the world the most would be a super drug that could cure all diseases...and nothing ever becomes immune to it...and it would be cheap!

For me, a teleporter would have (and even more have had) an enormous effect on my life, and it'd be the best. Just input three-dimensional grid coordinates, hold on tight, and appear where-ever you want.

And think of all the jobs it would create. Banks would have to hire security gaurds for inside the vaults.

What I want is a device that makes me never need to sleep, eat, breathe, or use the restroom ever again, makes me immune to all poisons and diseases, stops my aging when I reach my physical peak, gives me infinite physical and mental stamina, gives me 100% controllable telepathy and telekinesis, raises my IQ into the four-digit range, and grants both immortality and invincibility, since the last two are actually two different things. Immortality means you can live forever, as long as you don't suffer any wounds or such that would kill you; invincibility gives you immunity to all damage and pain and such, but doesn't actually increase your natural lifespan at all. And it would only work on people whom I genuinely wanted it to work on. And it would enable me to speak, read, and write all languages in the multiverse with absolute perfection. And it wouldn't have any detrimental side-effects at all.
