One of those strange games that I feel the urge to share with someone:

    http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=1723.0

It was made for a procedural generation competition. The basic idea is that you name a plane, and based on information from that name it creates a plane out of various parts for you. You then test it out and see if you can break some scores with it.

    My current scores:
widest loop: deathmage - 698 feet
    Number of loops: everywhere - 5 (I haven't been trying :p )
    Time Upside-Down: Karl Marx - 7s
Altitude: Josephine - 13460 feet (Karl Marx broke this, but I didn't manage to land it. Still trying :) )
    Airtime: Jaheira - 17m 25s
    Distance: Jaheira - 24.2 miles
Shortest takeoff: Jaheira - 86.7 feet
    Space Race: slanteye - 3.0s
    G-force: Josephine - 28.3 Gs
    Heaviest Looper: flight - 1882lbs

I expect Karl Marx to break most of Josephine's records. Good old Mr Marx is the most stable yet powerful plane I've discovered yet, and if you get him vertical enough he heads a good way into space :)

So, beat my scores :p They're pretty pitiful compared to what some people on Tigsource are reporting, but still :)

    Edit:
Okay, Karl Marx just smashed all scores.
    Time Upside-Down: 10.8s
    Altitude: 42069 feet
    Air speed: 1238.7 knots
    G-Force: 93.5 Gs

Perhaps there's something to that communism after all :p

Haha - It's brilliant, I love it. I'll have another crack at it after exams, but this ones definitely a keeper.

Hahahahaha! Deathmage is a surprisingly good plane!

OTOH, Octara looks cool, but doesn't even get off the ground. :p Loreseeker is pretty bad, Taluntain is impossible, while Beren is big and unwieldly.

    Fun!

    EDIT: Some experience:
Deathmage is a good beginner's plane - I don't like to blow my own horn, but it is. It's streamlined, easy to fly, fast, can jump into space, and is easy to land - once it runs out of fuel it just sways there.
George Orwell is insane to control, as is Rogue Stone. For a hybrid, Rogue Orwell is easier to control, but still pretty crazy.
Both Octara and 8people are bad planes...sorry.
Xan and Gorion are also pretty good planes, and Sarevok and Irenicus (or Jon Irenicus) are laughably bad.

Porl Thompson has taken slanteye's space race record - 2.9 seconds, though Deathmage reports 2.3 (unlanded).
Beware though, it is very hard to land because it basically has no wings, and plummets to earth when you run out of fuel rather than drifting in like most planes.

Edit: Record is down to 2.4 seconds now.

Oh, this is great fun. Most of my records are rather pitiful, but

Shortest take off: 58.5 feet - lead wings

    clover is good
sinkslikeastone is a fun plane, but rather chaotic

Blackthorne appears to be a perpetual motion machine. After running out of fuel it drifted down from the fringe of space, but now seems to be rock steady above the clouds.

Heh. I finally just landed Blackthorne so I could try some others. It went 34m 57s and 65.8 miles.

Blackthorne TA is a big fat underpowered pig and BTA flys better upside-down (72.9s :) )

I think he's gonna fly forever! i started him at 10 after the hour & he still has about 60% fuel left. so he's been up about 41 mins so far, only 1 or 2 clicks on the power bar & he still is slowly gaining altitude:)

Blackthorne will fly forever as far as I could tell. Even when out of fuel it maintains an altitude above the clouds.

Dink was pretty amusing. Once it gets to a certain altitude it just loses control and spins

Baron Van Red also appears to be a perpetual motion machine.
