What do you consider to be the three worst and three best inventions or discoveries?

3 Worst:
Religion (yes, and invention of man)
Rap/Hip-hop music
Abusive substances

3 Best:
Electricity
Indoor Plumbing
Eye enhancment (contacts, glasses, etc)

And please don't argue with people's worst/bests (as in, don't start yelling at me for saying religion )

Three worst:

2. Hierarchies of power
3. Ideologies promoting blind self-righteousness

Just about everything that's wrong with the world, in my view. Sadly, they often go together; the people with the power have the weapons and the holier-than-thou attitudes to make life difficult for others.

Three best:
--------------------------
1. The alphabet (any)
2. The wheel
3. Irrigation/agriculture (tied)

Electricity just misses the boat; I figure that without those, you don't have much else.

And a bit more flippantly...

Three worst:

1. Chai tea - man, don't get me started...
2. The Olsen twins - they're evil, I tells ya! Eeeeevil!
3. Beer goggles - responsible for some of the worst atrocities I've ever laughed at people for doing.

Three best:
--------------------------
1. Beer - the wheel was a fine thing, yes, but doesn't go nearly as well with pizza.
2. Computers - and I'm lumping the Internet in here as well. Comfortable chairs are also considered part of this one.
3. Curry - see #1 on this list. Bless the noble visionaries responsible for this wondrous food!

"Cheese and crackers" as one item just missed the cut, as did a number of other food-related items. There really isn't much better than good food and comfortable surroundings, IMO.

 

Worst:
-Rap
-Rappers
-F****** Emo kids (AKA quiet p******)

Best:
-Alcohol (Beer... the perfect companion of pizza and peanuts)
-Marijuana (excellent when you need to blow off steam and a great remedy against boredom)
-Condoms (I struggle as hard as I can to be only one woman's man... although carnal urges are hard to fend off)

Computers

Worst:

Aethiesm (If you can have Religion, I can have this one too.)
Telemarketing. Supposedly it does get results, but it's so ****ing annoying...
The Shootout. It's fun to watch, but no way to decide a hockey game...

Best:

The internet. It's my lifeline, being in the middle of nowhere and with no wheels.
Christianity. Most people get a sense of peace from it, and if more people would obey it, then this world really would be a better place...
Television. What else are we going to do with our free time?

 

Best:

• Guns! Pistols, rifles, handguns, and shotguns are all great!
• Computers! Fom the internet, to copying CDs and DVDs...computers are the best!
• My bed! When all else fails, I take a nap in my cozy bed. I couldn't live without it!

Worst:

• American-made cars (Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, and Dodge) - They are all ugly and worthless piles of junk.
• Telemarketers! I hate them almost as much as I hate Dell's customer service.
• Democrats. Stupid anti-gun agendas!

Yay.

 

Best:
-Music! Couldn't live without it.
-Computer! My (almost) only connection to the outside world.
-Vintage Canadian cheddar! The perfect texture and taste. It really doesn't work in toasted sandwiches though; it goes lumpy.

Worst:
-Coldplay! Most bland, boring band ever.
-Politicians! I don't do politics. They speak in language I don't understand, and bitch about tax rises of 0.1%. It's great when Jeremy Paxman interviews them though; he yells at them whenever there's an inconsistency, which happens a lot.
-Modding one's car! If you want your car to look that bad, why don't you just buy an American one, rather than getting a proper European car, lowering the chassis, putting Kev/Denise stickers on the windscreen, adding exhaust pipes and racing stripes, and painting it yellow?

 

I'm going to take this semi seriously now since it's in whatnots.

Three best would be

- Computers, don't know how they work and don't care but games are fun and so is the internet.
- Ice Hockey, don't know what I'd do without the world championships each year.
- Alcohol, life just would not be the same without alcoholic bewerages.

Three worst

- Anime, created those damn freaks who try to get me to watch the thing, wear catears and listen to annoying japanese music.
- reality television, kills the brain 'nuff said.
- The guy who invented the "annoy them, preach to them and follow them around until they give up and take the brochures(sp?)" method should really burn in the worst possible afterlife.

 

BEST:

Oh yes, I sort of forgot to say that this is a completely serious thread (i mean, obviously you can joke around, but I was serious for mine)

Although, i did forget Coldplay as one of the three worst... just plain awful...
