[IMG] Just out of curiosity, what does everyone think about Level 10 (High Level Ability) spells, and who has a preference? My favourite has to be Dragon's Breath. heaps of damage and knocks people over?

"Hey kids, we're having char grilled archer for dinner!" "YAY!!!" :p

  2. Heh. I love them. I always do Watcher's Keep first so I can get them early. I personally love Dragon Breath, Improved Alacrity and Summon Planetar. It's truly great when you are playing a sorcerer.

Improved Alacrity has to beat them all howeverm, and combined with Time Stop, and the Robe of Vecan/Amulet of Power, you are unstoppable. Sorcerer here I come!

[IMG] Improved Alacrity. As has been pointed out that combined with Time Stop & Robe of Vecna... hmmm, where did I put my cheese smilie? :good:

    What do you mean?
Do you do WK from SoA or do you do WK first thing in ToB?

I never do WK from SoA, mostly because in my games Sarevok is a must have, no matter what general alignment my party has (edited:)... and so I want him to get his share of all that xp. :D

Summon Planetar beats the others easily. Massive damage dealing potential (and can't be ignored by that &/%#! magic resistance every single creature seems to have), high level spells, and a good blocker (when fighting Sendai, put this one in the doorway and none of those drow rushing in will be a problem. Especially if you cast globe of blades.)

Never found any use for the other spells, except for greater elemental summoning. Haven't ever even used two of them (wish and mass raise dead).

  10. Err...Volar the plaenetar can be pomeled by any of the other spell's.Anyway my favrite must be dragon's breath. It can do 100-200 damage, stun, and blow away.Comet is also good but I really like alacrity. If you use it and continuesly use sunfire/dragon's breath you can kill ton's of creature's in no time.

    Aislaby,

Yeah, project image over-rules the restrictions on number of summoned creatures. (In the case of planetar - normally one.)

I've ranted about this spell before. It is *the* single most powerfull spell in the game, which is wrong for a level 7 spell.

Dragon's Breath is good, in theory. Note, that's "in theory". Though this may be my bad luck, I have found that creatures always make the save on this which negates half the damage and the knockback. Furthermore, I have never seen anything close to 100 damage out of it. I found comet to perform better.

In regards to the question in the poll, Improved Alacrity and Planetar are the only two that I use to any great extent.

Pomeled? Eh? Did you mean pummeled? In that case, what does it matter, as no enemies cast any of the other spells. The planetar is much more useful (and more powerful) than some simple damage-dealer.

No, I haven't used wish. A few uses of limited wish in SoA was enough to make me memorize some more useful spells. And I haven't used project image either :p The fact that your wizard can't do anything while it last scared me off. Simulacrum's nice though. (Hmm, getting pretty off-topic already.)

Correct, it's in the spell description. Never used it myself though.

Well, that may be in the spells description, but I remember casting multiple wishes simultaneously and haven't had any character lockups yet

I think that Rastor is talking about Project Image. When you cast it, your wizard gets locked up until the projected image is killed, dispelled or the duration expires. This spell is very useful though, because the projected image can cast the same spells that your mage can.

The way to use it is to leave your mage in a safe spot, then cast Project Image and Wizard Eye, and you've got a very powerful (albeit cheesy) combo here. You can memorize a lot of Project Images (or in the case of a Sorcerer, just cast it when you need it) and have the images use their spells first on the opposition.

Regarding the topic, I've found that Summon Planetar, Improved Alacricity and Dragon's Breath are the best of the bunch. The Planetar is so powerful, in fact, that he can solo the last two battles against Irenicus in SoA. Improved Alacricity is very powerful when combined with Time Stop. Lastly, there is Dragon's Breath, ideal for mass-killing. The damage this spell does is rather huge, and it completely ignores magic resistance (magic resistance, not fire resistance). Do you have a problem with a certain Demilich? Dragon's Breath will fry him. Remember to stick in a Greater Malison for maximun effect.
