[IMG] First of all, your account here has nothing to do with the chatroom, though it might help the other ones in there to get to know who you are ;)

    second, the technical part. http://www.sorcerers.net/Community/index.php

there are 2 ways to join the chat(probably more, but I don't know them).

one is downloading mIRC from http://www.mirc.com or http://www.mirc.co.uk and follow the setup instructions from the SP link (first link).

secondly, you could press the chatroom link in the SP link (first link again) and enter the chatroom from the javaapplet (quikcchat), this will only be open as long as you have your window open. I would advise using mIRC, but if you're new and can't figure it out, use the quickchat and then you can get help to setup mIRC :)

Yep it is previously registered - but by someone else. You can't use it.

But Firestorm_ is not registered so you can use that.

Forget the password for now, get to chatroom and there ask how to set it. ;)

[IMG] Not necessarily, Extremist. Webmaster claims that Capstone is registered too, but it never kicks me off of it.

EDIT: Heh. I won't remove it, lest your reply look stupid, but I apologize for my ignorance. :p

    [IMG] ARGH!

Capstone, next time type "/ns info >nick<"

You'll see that "Capstone" IS NOT and "Firestorm" IS protected from unauthorized usage. Will you now remove that bulb? :p

  7. *I* use quickchat and *I* haven't found a problem with it. I'm actually a + now and I'm still using quickchat.

[IMG] Yes, but it's not a good idea. If at all possible, do not use QuickChat. It generalizes most hostmasks and makes El's tracking a bitch. If you're lucky to be a living in a country where no one else is from, it won't matter, because you'll be the only one on the bot and it will work fine. But in a country like UK for instance, where there are quite a lot of folks on the chat from, everyone gets a generic appendix after their nick if they use QuickChat, and El regards them all as the same person.

Therefor mIRC is the only good long-term solution.

  9. *Sigh* but Tal, I've tried to get mIRC to work and it just won't!!! Avarahtar tried to help me too.

[IMG] ShadowGoddess, mIRC is not the only IRC client out there. There are a ton of them. I actually use Pirch myself, as it's the first I came in contact with. Try using a different client.

I've tried using different clients. Mirc (with additional scripts) is the best for me.

It's a friendly, colourless, nonspamming script and it's functions are mainly for me to use only.

You're just on a wrong network then. Read the details about which servers to add & connect to again. There is no way mIRC could "not work" for you, it's as reliable as a calculator in windows. It always works if you can set it up right. Anyway, if you're having so much trouble with it, ask one of the ops in the chatroom to guide you through the whole process of setting it up.

Doh, we seem to get repetative in simultaneous posts, don't we? :p

    ok then question ya'll...

I have mirc at home use it no problem...
but at work... i am on an intranet.

Wont let me in ANY rooms. Always the connection times out. I most likely have a huge firewall i am behind and seem to be only able to access through the web page.

I cant get anything with a sex rating either... not that i have tried but bel sent me a link that i couldnt open,, seems my web content is also screened.

Any one know how i can get mirc to work. Or am i destined to quickchat at work :(
