The game crashes as I try to enter the Mortuary for the End Game

    I've played all thorugh the game, and have not had any crashing problems. I need to go into the Mortuary to get to the portal to the Fortress of Regret. I talk to the dustman guard outside, and tell him I need to pay my respects to Dionarra. the game goes to a loading screen, get halfway through it and exits.

    I uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game and this still happens. I don't think I started playing with the 1.1 patch, I installed it and when I try to load a saved game it tells me to insert disk two even though it is already in, and I have to hit Alt-f4. I am on Windows XP, but at I said I have not had any other problems.

    Does anyone know what to do to fix this? or alternatly does anyone have a game saved right before you enter the mortuary (or even inside it to totally bypass the problem ;) ) that they can send to me so I can Finish this game off? Any help will be very apperciated. Thanks.

    This is a common bug and I don't know if there is a fix. :(

    The good news is that this only happens when you try to enter the Mortuary through the gate. If you die (ask Pox at the gate to kill you or smuggle you in, or just order your companions to attack you), you will appear on the Second level of the Mortuary where you started the game.

    Do you have the 2 CD version or the 4 CD version? If your game came with only 2 CDs, it means the game is already updated with the 1.1 patch, and installing it again screws up your installation. If so, you'll need to uninstall and reinstall.

    there's a thread regarding this already, but i can't seem to find it right now...

    anyway, if you have the 2 cd version like i do, this problem really comes with it. the only way i got into the mortuary was to kill myself. have you tried that?

    Kill myself, I can't believe how obvious that is. Yeah I have the 2 disk version, I did install the patch, but I had already reinstalled the original when that did not work.

    Thank both of you for your help, I'm ready to beat this.
