    This edition will take us back a couple of years back to a small, no-nonsense GSM phone.

    Modes: GSM 1900

    Battery life: Rated for roughly 8 days. Does just that.

    Signal: I have yet to see the phone lose a bar of signal. I'm dead F'N serious. Either the RF indication is a load of crock, or this is a single-band pitbull who doesn't need 850MHz to whip ass.

    Sound quality: The 8390 sounds good with EVRC enabled. Max volume could afford to be louder.

    Form factor: Candybar, and a small one at that.

    Phone and keyboard feel: The reason why I hate this phone. My thumbs are too big which makes operating this phone a royal PITA. The phone itself is small and pocketable.

    Screen: 84*48 greyscale LCD. Nothing worth raving about -- it's readable, period.

    Final score: 7/10. This one is a bag of mixed nuts -- it does sound good, holds a good signal, has great battery life, and a small form factor, but the keyboard is downright horrible and a royal PITA. My friend does like the phone since the red LED mod, then again she has smaller hands than I do, so it's more comfortable to use for her than it is for me.

    A good addition, that will not see much use from me.

    The mod was requested by my friend. I know the picture is dark, but it's the backlight I want to emphasize on, not the phone itself.

    The phone has an iDEN SIM inserted, and therefore is not connected to any network. SIM lock was removed, as you can see.
