[IMG] It sounds like the "restort" is a bootcamp.

More power to them! If anything can whip these little malcontents into shape, its a bootcamp.

    stalin and stasi anyone?

or am I missing something. If rehab is considered a mind rape stripping people of free will, then I say those parents have failed the american constitution in every sense. It saddens me that such a place exist and I could only hope to see it asunder soon enough.

I find it hard to believe that there are that many truly disturbed teens. Where did their troubles come from in the first place? Maybe there should be a simultaneous "treatment" along similar lines for these kids' parents.

It doesn't sound like a bootcamp to me at all! This programme does not teach any new skills, much less trust and a sense of responsibility towards others, only mind-numbing obedience and terror for authority. They go out of their way to set the children on each other like vicious dogs - no boot camp worth its salt would ever do that, since a huge goal is to teach co-operation and loyalty. What they are doing is brainwashing, exactly the way it's done to prisoners of war or to cult members. They grow to love their captors the same way Patty Hearst grew to love hers. I don't see how this programme could possibly produce anything but serious mental disturbance and I'll bet anything there are some truly terrifying future criminals being created there.

I agree with Sprite here; this sounds disturbingly similar to the brainwash tactics of a cult. Not only are the tactics questionable, but what about the things these kids are being “taught”? The staff members’ “qualifications are not required to exceed a high-school education”; no formal training in child psychology, education, or anything that would be useful here. And look at some of the reasons these kids are being sent to this place:
Good grief, at least they could have a screening process. (But at $40,000 a year, why would they?)

First, both sides are exaggerating. That place is a concentration camp, the Jay Kay person should rot in prison and the parents should be deprived of custody, preferably put in gaol too.

But, there's no such thing as parents seeing their teen in immodest clothing or drunk and sending him to Tranquility on the spot.

According to some brain-sucked leftist activists, those spoilt brats should be given the 'freedom' to dress as they want and get pounded as they want, after smoking themselves into oblivion if they so desire, as free citizens of a truly democratic country. BS.

If I ever have a child, he or she won't have any sex until they're legally adult and thus no longer under my authority unless he or she gets married before. Period. I won't see sluts or pimps in my house or around my family and there won't be any dread-locked addicted boyfriends or any wallet-draining loose girlfriends. There won't be any friends who are 'cool' but just happen to disagree with the system or with 'lunatics' aka Christians. There won't be any fooling around when the kid should study. There won't be any moronic cartoons laden with agression and militant stupidity. There won't be any idols. There won't be any 'new', 'progressive', 'contemporary' 'philosophy', 'awareness', 'ethics'... nothing like that. Why? Because Daddy says so.

However, if someone's children reach that point, then obviously the someone has apparently failed as a parent. And if the someone considers humiliation, physical torture (professional totalitarian secret services' methods), brain programming and depriving of privacy adequate treatment, then the someone apparently needs such treatment himself. I would stress that the minor can hardly reach such a degree of guilt in such a crime as to surpass the guilt of the parent sending the said minor to Tranquility.

And no, I don't mean just the use of physical force, compulsion or strict control - it's sad, but such means sometimes are necessary, even though to stop what the kid's doing rather than punish him. What I mean is that the first teachers in one's life are his parents. If they fail, nothing really helps, except a tremendous load of love and patience, and this not in many cases.

It would be nice if a couple would be forced to a test when they want to have children.

If they fail they must leave some bodyparts behind too.

As Sprite said the root of the problem lies with the parents. This resort  is an abomination to free will and furthermore it does nothing more than the production of living zombies. And does this attidude of changing the my kid is a firestarter problem to how will i find the money to get rid of my kid and his problems problem, looks like they don't care for their own kid or is it just my imagination

Lol, yesterday I watched a documentation of German General in WW2. Very, very bright and very talented. Went into a military academy as kid and learned discipline and obedience. He wasn't a Nazi nor was he involved in any crimes, but he became information about it and chose to forget about it. After the war his main excuse was, and I think there is something to it:" I was raised to never ever doubt the authority of my superior and always follow orders."

Since it's basic tenet of Judaism that each person is responsible to think for him/herself and find a personal path to following God's law, that excuse didn't hold water at Nuremburg.

It doesn't hold water as an excuse, for sure, but it suggests that a culture that demands unquestioning obedience from its young people is more likely to produce moral zombies who don't think of refusing evil commands. On an unrelated note, I don't think many Nazi generals followed the tenets of Judaism. :p

[IMG] And so, through a veil of tears, Evil was presented before my eyes.

A complete affront to freedom, to free will.

Humanity? No, ants. These teens are reduced to soul-less insects. I mean, that place *kills* them. Not their bodies, mind you, but their very souls, replacing them with someone else, someTHING else. And the parents are blind to the fact that their kids no longer exist.

    Nothing could ever justify this.

*Sigh* I WAS *NOT* WRITING ABOUT BLOODY MORAL,
I was writing about the diminishment(sp?) of the individual in such places, or *shudder* such societies.

Explanation for anyone else who misunderstood: How often do you see distinct personalities in an anthill? Would ya'll like if we humans were as non-descript as ants?!

Yeah, that's what I meant. A wrong concept of discipline can spoil a character for good. "Semper fidelis" can send you straight to hell.

Personally, I like being an individual. Also I cant help but wonder how long it will be till one of the students at this place reaches a point where they have to make a decision without any one to tell them what to do, IMO they may verry well freeze up. I also wonder how long this place will last untill they find a kid that insead of following the program will go catatonic because his sense of self is so strong he wont break.

Ever noticed what a great society the ants have? Nobody is being selfish, prob not even the queen.

An ultimate utopia, as Plato wanted it. It's not about individuals, it's about society.

    "Auuuugh! How maddening!"

*Dreadlocks massages his temples* Okay, I've calmed down.
Well to each his own, comrade. It's only your right to be an individual that let's you say that, if you don't happen to be lucky enough to be in a society where everybody thinks as you do, that is.

Diversity, man, diversity. Wouldn't you miss it?

It's not about good, it's all about order in an anthill. Ants don't have enough personality to be selfish. The little buggers don't even like each other, they are cooperating 'cause they don't know anything else. If an ant of the very same hill would do something (though it's not likely capable of it) that is perceived as threatening to the queen, were it or not, it would be killed on the spot by it's "kin". Without emotion. No thought about friendship('cause it doesn't exist.

The humans ability to feel emotions, and feel for other humans is our greatest gift, yet the one squandered most.

Note, I hope you where joking.
On a second note, let's not turn this into a discussion about ants, please.

[IMG] The owner of this facility, and his entire 'family' deserve a visit from me and my two little buddies called knives.

Rest assured that Mr. Jay Kay will take many, many painful hours to die if he ever falls into my hands.

This is the Singaporean society multiplied a thousand-fold. Emotional growth?

In chaos there is beauty, in individualism, there is strength. In anarchy, life.

Any parent I hear of sending their children to such a facility won't be there to see the results of his/her sick decision.
