Heya! The Longer Road mod is a mod that allows you to revive your fallen nemesis, Jon Irenicus and use him as a party member in ToB. He's level 30, has almost every spell memorized, and (I believe) can take on the Demogorgon BY HIMSELF. I think he's way too overpowered. My mage at that time was leve 16, and having a level 30 mage casting time stop repeatedly while you try to conjure a Nishruu is...disheartening. Not to mention that my mage would probably feel inferior too compared to Jonny.

However, the plot of the the mod is rich and vivid. Most quest mods let you gain the prize or whatsoever just by choosing the "good" options; not so for The Longer Road. You have to be bad at times in order to proceed with the quest. Also, Jon has lots of banters and interjections with the party, and it's really interesting to see the guy who stole your soul repent and ask for forgiveness.

All in all, the Longer Road is a good one, albeit slightly overpowered. You might want to import more powerful characters....Thumbs up!!!!

    Score: 7.5/10

You were only level 16 at the start of ToB? Small wonder Jon looked so OTT. But I do get your point- he is very powerful. Still, I feel the main focus of the mod is on the role-playing aspects rather than his combat ability.

Do you really believe he can take on Ascension's Demogorgon by himself?

especially since demogorgon is a very tough fight for mages?

The demogorgon is quite powerful....maybe 2 or 3 Irenicuses could take care of him....

The best result with Longer Road is to seal Demogorgon in and then forgive the Helmites. Basically you're trying to teach Jon morals. That's if you want the "good" ending - there are four different endings.
My main beef with this mod was all the typos. But other than that it was good, interesting and very entertaining. There's a very fun mage duel with Edwin if both are in party, and his conflicts with Sarevok are quite cool as well.
If you're aiming for the "good" ending it is *very* easy to slip up. One wrong choice in a dialogue can blow Jon's chances of redemption. You also have to solve the Deva quest correctly (a very nice quest, this) and deal with Malla's soul quest in the best possible way as well.
