[IMG] It's morning now, the morning after I saw the Matrix: Revolutions. I'm still trying to decide if I liked it or not. I guess the fact that I am still riding the fence shows that it wasn't all I'd hoped it would be.

Maybe it's because the original Matrix was such a good story, and so well done, the second and third movies just couldn't bring back that "Wow!" I felt when I found out that humanity had been enslaved and everyone was living in a dream world.

There are some great moments in this movie, don't get me wrong. The Wachowski's can definitely make art out of war and martial arts. I think the ending just left me a little, well...Unsatisfied. For Matrix fans, I guess it's a must see - mostly because it's the last of the trilogy. But overall, I wish they had kept the franchise to one movie...

    Some cool things:

    Niobe's flying

    Captain Mifune's battle roar

    The battle for Zion

    Agent Smith

Monica Bellucci (all she did was sit and breathe heavily...But it did the trick for me!)

Things I was less than crazy about:

    The Ending

    The Kid

    Larry Fishburne's diminshed role

    The Ending

So....What about you? How did you like the movie?

I was kinda hoping this would make up for the disapointment of the second one. Thanks for dashing my hopes! (I'm kidding, don't worry) I think I'll still go along and see it, perhaps just for the sake of it, or the action scenes.

Saturday night is the hoped time, I'll tell you about it afterwards.

[IMG] I'm just saying the second and third movies didn't blow me away like the first...I saw the original Matrix the night it opened - and I was floored!! I saw the commercial, it's was only Larry Fishburne's voice...and I was hooked.

This movie could only go where it went. I guess I saw that from the beginning...And when it came, it didn't surprise me.

The trailers before the movie were pretty good though!!! ;)  :spin:

Troy - Cool Greek tragedy war!!! Negative points for Brad Pitt.

The Last Samurai. When I heard Tom Cruise was in it, I was disappointed. But the trailer made the movie look awesome!!!

Return of the King. Do I have to say any more?

I missed the last one - Bathroom break. ;)

I have pretty much the same sentiments. So much of it seemed contrived, with characters developed to suit the story, instead of the story growing from the characters. There was even one point in the movie that was supposed to be serious, and a few people even laughed. The special effects were ok, but everything that was sorta cool also looked like I'd seen it before in some other movie. The franchise has turned into a Matrix style (action-wise) adventure story, instead of a work of speculation. The ending seemed a little trite, too.

Not saying the movie stinks, it's just that Martrix Revolutions is to the Matrix, like Phantom Menace is to Star Wars...best example I can think of.

Hey Bel, did you get the feeling that they actually left the door open for another sequel?

Let me be the first to say this. The movie was utter trash. I haven't been so disappointed in a movie in a long time. Here's what I disliked in the movie:

    1) Not enough martial arts. There was only really one hand-to-hand scene involving Neo, and most of it was spent flying around in the sky. It was so much like a Dragonball Z episode that I half expected Neo to shout "Kameha-meh-HAAA" and blow Smith away with an energy blast. It would have been cooler if he had, too.

    2) Abysmal mecha design. Ok. We are building giant armoured robots. Where do we put the pilot? That's right, we strap them to the front. Without armour. Brilliant.

    3) Stupid machines. Machine's plan: drill small hole, charge large army through hole. Let machines get distracted with unimportant peripheral encounters instead of concentrating on a goal. My plan: drill hole. Drop bomb.

    4) Stupid machines. Oh no! No solar power because of clouds! Better build a giant human farm (god only knows how this is viable)... it clearly shows that the sun is still shining brightly above these clouds when they break through. They can build a giant, hi-tech city, but they can't build a tower? Jeez.

    5) Extremely predictable plot and sub plots. What wasn't predictable was irrelevant (and there was a whole lot of this in there).

    6) Terrible acting. Reeves... I don't think I've seen a worse lead role performance. Morpheus was as over-the-top as ever, and that trinity chick just freaks me out.

    7) The philosophy. There was nothing wrong with the actual content. It's just that they didn't bring anything new in. It was all in the second movie. Cause. Effect. Determinism. The illusion of free will. We get it... we didn't need another two hours of it.

    8) The overused christian symbolism. I need not go into specifics. There's so much in there you couldn't miss it if you tried.

    Good things about the movie:

    1) It was the last one, so that can't happen again.
    2) It didn't involve a scene ending with a close-up of Reeves' butt.
    3) Naiobi (sp?). I've finally found something about Will Smith that I like... his wife.

Of course, that's all just my opinion. I saw the movie with a few mates who thought it was very good.

[IMG] Hacken Slash - I definitely got the impression that another film could be made sometime in the future.

Although I liked parts of the movie, I just left it with an unsatisfied feeling, kind of when you go to a really expensive restaurant with noveau cuisine and it's some tiny portion that leaves 3 quarters of the plate empty...After dinner, you stop at McDonald's for a burger.

This is rather amusing if you look it from a strictly humouros Matrix perspective.

meh, the matrix started out cool, now it is a special effects based movie which sometimes throws in a wadload of plot to confuse the viewer and remind them its a movie and not a 3d benchmark.

I haven't seen Revolutions yet... I shall watch it in the cinema because although it is all SFX, it looks damn cool :) .

Personally, I thought reloaded was awful, just more of the same with less depth covered up with a paperthin idea with not much of an actual basis other than using identical ideas from the first movie without taking them further, my idea for Revolutions was something along the lines of this 3 minute epic:

    *Scene: Neo's Apartment*

Neo wakes up with a spinning, aching head, feeling very groggy... he limps towards his computer and slumps in the chair in front of the screen.

Neo: "Uhh... like, what happened to Zion and Laurence Fishburne and that chick with the leather pants... and i'm sure i was some sort of demigod character in this movie, not just a bum computer hacker"

Neo then goes on to log into his newsgroups to see what is going on... then the colour drains from his face as he reads the headline:

"MORPHEUS IMPRISONED, DRUG DEALER TAKEN DOWN FOR SELLING ILLIGAL HALLUCINAGENIC RED PILLS"

Thought you said you hadn't seen it yet, Septic? :D If you didn't like "Reloaded", "Revolution" is more of the same. Might want to take a book, or a game boy or something.

The battle in Zion was the best part. One thing I really didn't understand was how Smith flew! And why didn't Neo dive in to him like he did on the first movie!

What do you expect for a movie shot in New Zealand? Just the views alone make up for what ever actor they happen to throw in.

I thought i was going to be the only one upseting die hard Matrix fans, guess I don't have to worry about that.
    @Hacken Slash
You did! The whole movie contained parts that were rip offs of other movies. My friends and I came up with a huge list of movies it ripped off...Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Superman, just to name a few. It also took scenes from television series and comic books. The whole final battle reminded me of the scene from the Superman comic book where Superman died!
My friend said it best, "the writers took a whole bunch of movies and tv shows, put them in a blender, turned it on puree, and we got this movie!"
For me the best part of the movie was that my friends covered my ticker because I drove.

    [IMG] Elios,
Well so much fiction has been written that it is hard not to steal anymore. Superman comic books. How far do we need to go :shake:

    Judas,
you scare me. Everything you say, was what I was gonna say. Except that I like John the babtist, the devil, anti-christ, st. Gabriel the archangel and the holy spirit... *ahem* I mean Morpheus, the frenchman, Agent Smith, Seraph and the Oracle. Both actors and roles. Though I liked them more in the second movie. All of them.

Come to think of it the third movie was a dissapointment, but a neccessary end to make all story lines clear. No double matrix. The divine chosen one etc.

That said, the combat scenes are truly worth the watch. Still. Comparing to other movies out there, it is top quality action. And thank you wachowskis for giving me one hell of a universe to dwell in my memory. I wouldn't want to live without the trilogy when all comes to all.

It disapointed me! I mean Neo has what 45minutes in a 180 minutes long film? and where's the matrix the only time I saw someone jacked in the matrix was when neo was sent by That big machine. The final battle, eh it's some kind of a DBZ ripp-off, realy realy awfull.

The second didn't received my ¨WOW¨ but now Revolution didn't received my ¨WOW¨ and received my ¨ECCK¨ criteria.

The first one was good, really good the other one were barely acceptable.

    @ Juda

    You said it all!

Someone tell me, the ending wasn't all too clear. Is Neo actually dead?

P.S. Sorry for the Diablo reference. ;)

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see another come out, maybe when Keanu runs for Governor of California (a la King Conan planned just as Arnie ran for office). We can only wait and see.

@Rotku - maybe Smith flew the same way Neo could, I remember Smith saying something about Neo teaching him some new tricks inadvertantly. There was also something mentioned about Smith making some improvements to himself and maybe that explains both the flying and Neo not diving into him - maybe he couldn't dive in.

For my tastes though, it was similar to a lot of Asian martial arts movies in that you don't watch for the plot (what plot?) but you watch for the fights and the other visuals - which made it bearable for me, the visuals and Smith's comic timing ("It's not FAIR!!")
