The "official" LOTR ring

Discussion in 'Whatnots' started by Silverblade, Dec 18, 2001.

What is the official LOTR ring? If you ask me there are three 'official' rings. A few days ago I read an interview with Elijah Wood and he said he had the ring from the movies in his possesion. Then the next day I read somewhere (can't remember where, maybe it was here) that the ring is being sold to the highest bidder and that the money would be going to charity. And today I read at the SP front page that you can win the ring in some kind of contest. Are all three of these "official" rings or are some people claiming to have the official ring and have a fake?

[IMG] The ring you can get in the contest is not the original, of course. It's a replica. Still comes engraved with the famous words in red though. (Not exactly realistic, but hey..) ;)

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
    (..)
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

Seems to me there are 20 rings in total, (with offcourse one being the ultimate, hold your replies)
So much for commercial activities, with the the three mentioned there should be another 17 more.

I'd be more worried about having one of the 19 if the ONE ring is still there to rule them all...

My suggestion is that everybody that cleams to havce the One Ring put the ring on... and then let's see who will become invisible. (ah, I already see... they are all false :))
