    He is a mobster that has had his car messed with so when his radio skips, the steering cables get snapped. He goes over a large bump, the radio skips, and ta-dah!

    The only physical impairment he is suffering from is the effects of being nervous, there is nothing wrong with the car.

    This is a lateral thinking puzzle, the answer is not straight-forward.

    He is a DJ who has made pre-recording to his live radio show, to use that as an alibi while he kills his wife. When the record skips, he knows that he will be caught, and commits suicide.

    "Driving a car" is slang for operating a band-saw.
    "Radio skip" is slang for finding a knot in a plank.
    "Drives off the cliff" is slang for slipping and being cut by the saw.

    So, the man was sliding a plank of wood through band saw and he was nervous because it's a dangerous job, and when the saw hit the knot, he slipped and his arm got chopped off by the saw?

    Was he lifting weights? (So the "bar" is a barbell and being tied to it is using those wrist wraps. He couldn't handle the weight, was on an inclined bench, dropped the weight on himself, and the trauma opened some kind of would which allowed him to bleed as he died.)

    Not exactly what I had in mind, but very close, you win. (Not sure why you would use wrist straps for benching though... :lol)

    My answer was that he had been performing deadlifts, had rubbed the bar against his shins, causing them to bleed. Then, at some point during the set, he hurt his back and couldn't get up. He was indeed tied to the barbell with wrist straps, and with his injury, he couldn't get up, so he bled to death.
