[IMG] I just discovered the worst, stinkiest piece of cheese in this game (TotSC, fully patched). I was fighting Mulahey with my F/M/T solo, and decided to specifically disrupt his spells. So I snuck up and smacked him in the face with my sword (because a backstab would have killed him while he was still neutral), making sure to trap him so he couldn't run away.

Then, when he started casting his first Hold Person, I paused the game, told my character to Magic Missile him, and unpaused the game. I thought I was toast when my character didn't start casting the spell right away. (She had still been attacking with her sword between the face-smack and the Magic Missile command, and so her combat round wasn't over yet.)

Imagine my surprise when I realized that Mulahey had stopped casting his spell! Intrigued about this, I tried to duplicate it and was successful. I decided to test further and found out that only one component of this was actually necessary. It turns out that the pause function of the game will interrupt enemy spellcasters! WTF!?!

It might not work with the first pause, but if you keep unpausing and repausing, you will be able to get the timing right to disrupt any spell. I managed to disrupt all five of Mulahey's spells (3 Hold -> Entangle -> Evocation spell [Spiritual Hammer?]) without touching anything except the space bar!

But why on earth would the pause disrupt a spell? That makes absolutely no sense at all?

I know, but for some reason it works. It may have something to do with him talking to you, or it could be some odd hiccup in his script. I'm going to try it out on other spell-casting foes and see if it works on them too. I'm pretty sure it would have worked on Bassilus (too bad he's already dead  ) because I remember some inconsistencies in whether I could disrupt his spells with a couple other parties.

It does work on most spell casters. Not all. The few spell caster it will not work on are the ones who cast instant. spells such as magic missile.

Ack!!! Algernon's Cloak is so cheesy! You know how in every neutral (blue) mercenary group there's one person who will initiate conversation, and then afterwards they'll fight you? Well check this out:

I was in the basilisk area with a solo character who was fatigued, and I didn't want the mercenary fight to be too hard. So I go towards the where I know the group is, using stealth, and where my character moves just happens to be where she can only see one of them (not the speaker). Now I charm the one guy I can see, and expect to be talked to, starting the fight. Nothing happens.

Intrigued, I maneuver around the group and charm another one just at the edge. Again nothing. I do it again, and to my surprise, still nothing! So, I walk right up into the middle of the group, and see that there's only one left who immediately starts talking to me. The fight starts, and now instead of me being outnumbered 4-to-1, the other person is! After she died, I just hid and let two of the others smack the third one, who then turned hostile and I backstabbed him! I only really had to fight one of them. It was so pathetically easy that I had to reload or feel guilty about it.
