The underdark

    [​IMG] ok i am stuck again.,..

    This time in the underdark...

    i cannot go into the drow encampment (or whatever it is called) because it is too dark. Is there a light i am missing? Have already finished the mindflayers (omg hard!). I also cannot figure out the portals that keep spitting out elementals?

    Anybody can help?

    Did you talk to the Duergar merchants? Did you go to the Deep Gnome city?

    The Duergar give you clues about the portals and the Deep Gnomes need some help for which they will return help to you.

    You´d find the Deep Gnomes in he north-west of the map, behind that point where you meet thiese silly Mykos. The gnomes offer you a quest with a nice reward - IIRC the skullcrusher mace +3, one of the best in the game.

    Talk to Goldander in the Duegar Camp. He asks you to kill Balor, a demon. Kill him and return to Goldander. He will give you a light-gem as award. Go to the silvre dragon, she will give you the quest to get her eggs back and she'll transform you into drows. Now you can visit the Drow City.

    When you say it's "too dark", are you describing the graphics of the game? If so then of course that can be altered in the game options area. Also, navigating in some areas in the Underdark can be difficult just do the design and lack of source light & intensity in many areas.

    Otherwise there are plenty of helpful hints in the above posts to assist. I always went to each of the portals just as soon as I entered the Underdark (before the *quest* relating to the portals) just to ramp up on experience. I know... it's greedy but sometimes it helped a character or two to get to the next level.

    He doesn't mean the graphics. When you try to open the gate to the drow city you get the message that it is to dark. You need the Light gem (see my other reply) to open the gates, and you need to be a drow so you will not be recognized as a non-drow.

    i thought it was the Sverfniblin that gave you the light gem

    not the duergar... the duergar are the merchants aren't they?

    That's right... The Sverfneblin(sp?) or Deep Gnomes are the ones with the Balor problem. The Duergar merchants are right near the entrance to the Underdark; there's only two or three of them.

    That's right, you get the Balor quest en the rward (light gem) from
    Goldander who is the leader of the Svirfneblin.

    ok no have not found either the dragon or the gnomes?

    have talked to all the merchants several times and all they tell me is they have seen the mage in the drow city?? I will keep looking for the dragon and gnomes though..

    [​IMG] The merchants say that they saw a mage battle near where the portals are. From their description it seems apparent that one mage Imprisoned another. Now what kind of scrolls do the merchants have for sale?

    The gnomes are northwest on the first Underdark-map, you have to walk east and then northwest. East of the Duegar Encampment, southwest of the gates to the City of Drows is the dragons cave.

    lol is ok... by the time i got back here i had already found both the dragon and the gnomes :)

    but whats wierd is that the sun gem from the shadow dragon area doesn't work. I thought its as bright as a sun (strange)
