    [IMG] Let's use this thread to discuss upcoming movies that, maybe, do not deserve an entire separate thread.

    I'd like to begin with a movie that *can* be the funniest movie of the year: Team america:world police. From the makers of southpark we can expect a lot of personal attacks on famous people and that's always fun.

    I think it will be one of those films that some find very funny and everyone else hates but that is pretty well the norm for those guys.

    For me, the really funny thing is that when the recent Thunderbirds film came out I started ranting about how they should have made the film with marionettes and tried to appeal to the nostalgic older audience instead of making a silly action film aimed at little kids.

    My brother's instant response was to :rolleyes: and proclaim that no one would make a film using marionettes these days because that would be silly and no one would be interested in it. My brother and I were at the theatre watching Hero when the trailer for Team America came on and lo and behold a Thunderbird like team of heroes in a film made using marionettes. As you can imagine I indulged myself with a suitable amount of gloating. :D

    right on the money JSBB. while I myself swear quite a bit and am no conservative, the swearing in the south park series was just too much. they were practically background sounds. i also found their baseketball movie really lame (except the part with victoria silvestedt, playmate of the year :D ). I guess i'm more into wit than slapstick. (Dodgeball and Zoolander being exceptions, Ben Stiller is a great idiot ;) )

    My upcoming movie would have to be John Constantine: Hellblazer. It would be impossible for anybody who reads this graphic novel series to find the movie good as there is no wasy to bring such complexity on screen, but I hope that they make it worth seeing at least. I can't believe they cast Keanu... he's not even british. or blond. or overly sarcastic. Nigel Gruff from the Replacements would have been a much better choice imo.

    Southpark is not about swearing, it hardly bothers me. Southpark is almost always about a political issue which IMO they alway view from both sides.

    I really like the teaser of Team america, where they begin with a list of famous actors and politicians who are supposed to be starring in the movie but in the end you get a line with: Are going to be really really mad when they see this movie.

    I didn't say it was all about swearing, just that they used too much of it for my taste. There's only so much that you can take of "Cartman's mom is a dirty sl*t" and "kyle's mom is a jewish b*tch" before it stops being funny and starts getting boring. Haven't seen too many episodes though so I can't really judge. Saw about 4 episodes and the South Park Movie.

    Actually, I heard the South Park movie is in the Guiness Book Of Records for the most instances of swearing in an animated film. Somewhere in the vicinity of 399 different instances.

    Anyway, to get back to upcoming movies, has anyone heard anything about the Ghost Rider film with Nic Cage? I used to be a huge fan of the GR comics.

    I dunno if this still counts as 'upcoming' bit I saw King Arthur yesterday, and as it's still in our local (mini-)cinema it has to be pretty recent.
    It was pretty good and takes a pretty unique take on the story... much closer to (what they claim is) historic reality.
    Elsewhere in the Sensorium, I'll post a spoiler-loaded thread, here I'll just say that if you're into semi-historic movies, go watch. It's good.

    Nicholas Cage is going to be Ghost Rider? For real? I thought that was just a rumor.. Does that mean the Tom Cruise is also really going to be Iron Man?

    @Aldazar

    I was a big fan too. Had a coupla action figures and even the cross-over with Ballistic from the Image comic universe and the excellent Hearts of Darkness one-shot special where Wolverine, Punisher and Ghost Rider (3 of the baddest anti-heroes out there at the time) went up against Mephisto's kid, Blackheart. Did you ever read that one? Of course I stopped collecting after a while and I felt good about it when I saw his new suit, the red one, and they started throwing all this crap about Ghost Rider being a different person (a guy named Dante iirc) and not just a spirit of vengeance or something.

    Yeah, Nic Cage is gonna be Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider. Jon Voight is in it as well last I heard and it's being written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson. That's all I know so far. And yes, I own a copy of Hearts Of Darkness as well as the follow-up, the name of which escapes me.
    I also have about 30 issues from about the time that Dan Ketch was revived up until he was killed again and the book was given over to the character Vengeance, as well as a few crossovers like the Marvel/Top Cow crossover.

    I'm actually having to stretch my imagination to see Nic as Blaze/GR, much like it was a stretch to see Bennifer as Daredevil.
    And I too heard the rumour that Tom is going to be Iron Man, nothing confirmed yet though that I know of. I guess he's gotta do something to make himself look taller.

    The Green Hornet looks like it may be interesting. Kevin Smith is going to produce it. Hope its better than Daredevil.

    With Kevin Smith attached, I'd be surprised if Jaosn Mewes and Jason Lee don't make some sort of appearance. As long as Bennifer and Matt Damon aren't there.

    Is that the movie based on the show that 'starred' Bruce Lee?

    Yup. Bruce Lee played the sidekick, Kato.

    crap, they really mess stuff up in the movies. last time i checked (been a while i admit) Ghost Rider was Daniel Ketch...

    @Aldazar

    Wow, you were really a Ghost Rider fan? I was collecting too many titles at the same time... Image: The Darkness, Divine Right: The adventures of Max Faraday, Witchblade, Ascension, Danger Girl, Battle sumthin (by Joe Madureira) and a few more obscure ones. Marvel: Thunderbolts. Any of these titles seem familiar? This was towards the end, at the start I'd grab anything with Spider-man, Wolverine, Ghost Rider or Punisher on it. But Batman is still the greatest hero of all time, crappy actors that demean him notwithstanding :p

    Yeah, Enagonios, the last GR was Dan Ketch on the comics but I guees they're going for the original in the film. And I was a huge fan, the only reason I stopped collecting was because local newsagents stopped stocking the books.

    Of the non-Marvel you mentioned I've heard of The Darkness (I have Issue 1 in limited edition variant cover, mint condition), Ascension, Witchbalde (even before the yancy Butler film/TV series) and Danger Girl though I've not read anything other than that 1 issue of The Darkness unless you count the aforementioned Top Cow/Marvel crossover.

    I actually have about 25 to 30 lever-arch folders full of Marvel comics (in plastic slips of course) such as the main four Spider-Man titles from 6 or so years ago, Spidey 2099, most X-related titles, some Hulk, Avengers/West Coast, Punisher, Captain America, Silver Surfer etc. Actually, most of the more mainstream titles I have a few issues of. And a couple of DC, Image and other not-so-well-known publishers.

    My favourite comic hero was always Wolverine because of his personality with Spider-Man a close second because I identified with him so well with his non-Spidey life.

    Big fan of all Marvel comics too, so I loved to see that they started to make movies about their comics, most of all to see X-Men taken to the big screen; the one they mess with it was Daredevil, man, Bennifer sucks (IMO)... I saw somewhere that it would be another version of the Punisher also.

    @Sydax

    Punisher is already out iirc. it stars Thomas Jane (the sweetest thing) as Frank Castle. I didn't really like the 1st X-Men though, the coolest aprt about it was Magnetos jail at the end imo ;) but X-2 wasn't too bad. Blade1 (which started the trend) was cool. Blade2 was kinda watered down. Hulk sucked major ass. I liked Spider-Man. Spider-Man2 was pretty good too. Especially that scene when he saved the people in the train and they tried to protect him from Ock :) I get emotional about stuff like that, sue me :p

    @Aldazar

    I was more of an image comics person myself.. your tastes wouldn't happen to extend to DC-Vertigo comics would it? Hellblazer, Sandman, etc? That's the stuff I started reading a few years AFTER I quit comics. Best stuff ever :o

    Unfortunately I never got to read many non-Marvel comics because of the lacklustre local Newsagent. Would have loved to have read some Sandman though, I never heard anything but the highest of praises for Neil Gaiman. I hope I remembered that name right...

    I wish Mel would hurry up and 'extract a digit' on Mad Max: Fury Road, AND bring it back to Australia to film.

    Also, I'm glad to see that production is actually underway now on the new Indiana Jones film too.

    TBH, I wasn't even aware that he'd published any novels. I mean, I know about his comics work and his graphic novels but that's it.
