Thief/Mage Solo Question

I am soloing with an elven thief/mage. I have completed the slaver's, some city stuff, Nalia's Keep, and a few sub quests. I am now half way through the Shadow Lord dungeon. I am having trouble with undead. I am also beginning to worry about tackling vampires by myself since this has popped up.

Is there an item that I can wear or use that gives me negative plane protection? Is there a mage spell besides control undead that can be used in attacking undead effectively?

Any other hints on how to tackle undead (especially vampires)?

you get the amulet of power from the shadowmaster, it protects you against level drain.

with vampires, I tihnk you should stay out of combat, summon some minions to do the dirty work

Like slappy suggest restoration scrolls work very well, you can steal about 10-15scrolls from different stores, should be plenty if you solo.

You could also buy some restoration spells from the temples. You can cast these on yourself if they level drain you and so get back into top fighting condition. They are a bit expensive but playing solo, you should have lots of cash.
