To the potent theives out there (I had Ragusa in mind). In Spellhood, there are a couple of nasty traps where you are squished (sp?) by the opposite walls. I had only Nalia with 105 in traps, and was never able to disarm them. Is it possible to do with a GOOD thief?

i played a Fighter/Thief who had a very high Find Traps ability by the time i got to Spell Hold and was unable to find a way to disarm that trap. not sure if it can be disarmed. i only tried a few times cuz i got sick of reloading every time my character got smashed.

As I know from lethal experience they can´t be disarmed - neither with a 105 standard disarm traps and dex 19 nor with the support of 1-3 potions of masterthievery. It was really frustrating.

where? I must have managed not to stumble into them (odd because I tend to stumble into most traps). I remeber my dwarven locksmith/trap expert being utterly humiliated in BG1 by a couple of Durlag's traps, the traps on the icon of Bhaal and all these doors with no alternative but to get the key from a quest! Being a thief should mean you don't HAVE to do what other people (particluarly DEAD people) want.

Almost forgot - 105%? I had been told that increasing beyond 99% was a waste of proficiency points as there was no benefit after that - is there a point where increasing is a waste?

The traps in the final fight with Sarevok in BG-1 can´t be disarmed either. However, it´s not that bad, you don´t need to pass it.

You can simply choose to outflank found but undisarmable traps, that´s by far cleverer - find and disarm traps are ONE skill :p

200 is the top limit. And it isn't a waste to go over 100, as some people's (Renal, for instance) resistance to being pick-pocketted is higher than 100. Or so it seems, as I'm not sure exactly how that works, but experience tells me that's so.

Great, thanks for that - now I know that my "master thief" was a pitiful loser after all I can try maxing out some skills next time I take a thief through.
