Why doesn't the game figure in my Dex bonus or my race bonus.
I'm a dwarf with an 18 Dex. I should be getting +25 to OL & +20 to my F/RT. The game isn't figuring it in. Could it be because of a mod?
Also I am totally nude. But if I put on armor the stats don't change regardless of the type of armor.

You get the racial/default dex bonuses at character creation (before you add your thieving skill points). For example, you'll notice that elves start with higher Hide in the Shadows than others.

As far as armor goes only hide armor decreases your thieving skills in BG2. Armor check penalty wasn't introduced until IWD2, iirc. Using items with +dex does improve your thieving skills. Try using Potions of Mind Focusing (most potion merchants and temples have them) and raise your dex to 25, just to be sure. If the bonuses aren't showing then yeah there's a problem and it could be a mod issue.

Ah OK! Thanks. I never thought of that. I had just assumed that thief skills started that high.

Is detect illusion worth taking? What does it show?

Detect Illusion is basically True Seeing although the detection range is smaller. It's a good skill if you can afford to raise it, especially at lower levels. I'd personally max Set Traps first though.
