I'm doing Watcher's Keep, but my party is good. Can I get the thief's hood (short of shadowkeeping it into my inventory)? Also, what amount of experience do your parties finish up with at the end of ToB? I have the full six member party with about 4.2 mil each right now, and I haven't even destroyed Bodhi yet (However I am almost done with WK). I'm tring to get some idea about if or when I will hit the cap.

You can still get the thieves hood. There's no reputation penalty at least - if that's what you're referring to. I'm not sure why you don't know if you could get it or not.

As far as the XP limit, it is unlikely that you will hit the 8 million mark, even if you do everything in WK, SoA, and ToB. I have played through the entire series multiple times, and my characters usually finish somewhere around the 7 million XP mark.

From what you are saying, you are doing WK before fighting Bohdi and Irenicus, and I simply do not think it is possible to get anywhere near the 8 million XP limit before going through ToB. You'll be lucky to hit 5 million before the end of SoA.

Fair enough on the XP question, but my question about the thief's hood stems from the fact that supposedly you have to be evil to get the quest from the demons on the third level (with the hood as the reward obviously). I was wondering if anyone had found a way around this.

I do not recall that you have to be evil. The demon will offer you a deal regardless of what your alignment is. I suppose it is "evil" to make a deal with a demon and kill the rival, but the rival is another demon so I really don't think that's the evil path. I have to admit that it has been a while since I've done WK, but I know I have acquired the thieves hood before, and I don't think there's any alignment requirement for the demon to offer the deal.

The usual game plan here is:

    1. Kill the rival demon to get the cloak and a completed quest worth about 40K per character.

    2. Then kill the demon (after he gives you your reward) and get more XP's from that fight too.

I think the other option to take there is to decline his offer, kill him, and take his heart to the rival demon. You still get the 40K XP reward, and I think you still get the thieves hood as well.

Bottom line is you get the thieves hood by killing one of the demons and bringing its heart back to another demon. You certainly don't have to be evil though.

The demon started to offer me the quest, but before I was offered an option, he said something like, "...but, no... I smell the stench of good and order on you. Better to kill you now." Then the fight proceeded. After dispatching him, I picked up his heart (because any adventurer worth his salt knows demon hearts are o so useful :D ) and carried it around with me until I ran into the second group. Same thing happens, and now I'm stuck with two useless demon hearts and no thief's hood. Is this some kind of bug or is my rep too high? I'm at a loss on this one.

As I remember, one of the demons won't offer a deal if you're good, and the other won't offer a deal if you're evil. Killing one and bringing its heart to the other should have gotten the hood.

As mentioned above, after getting the hood you can kill the demon for even more experience and no rep hit.

Last time through, IIRC, it was the second demon that gave my good party the hood. The first one forced the fight like you posted, but the second did not.

IF you use the upgrade mod. You can use the demon hearts to upgrade certain weapons.

(as well as brine potions and various other items that end up in a chest or barrel or dropped when done.)

Fudge! I guess shadowkeeper it is. The walkthroughs I read don't mention the good party being able to get it at all. If SK is available somewhere on this site I'll find it. If not where does one get it? (Obviously I don't use too much of the fan created mods and stuff but I will after beating Throne of Bhaal a couple of times). Thanks!

[IMG] Level 3, WK. From Simpson's walkthrough:

    (AR 3012)

Here you are confronted by a Tanar'ri. If you are evil, you can side with it. It will want you to kill it's enemy Ka'rashur. If you are Good you will have no choice but to kill it. From its body, take the Scepter Gem.

Note: When you return with the Heart of Ka'rashur he gives you the mighty Thieves Hood (useless until Cespenar upgrades it).

SK is on SP in the Editors, Hacks & Custom Chars subsection.
