Not to whine, but the Severed Hand really needs someone like Swift Thomas to show the “delegates” around quickly and easily. This running up and down, tower to tower, floor 1 to floor 4 to floor 1 to… is all kind of ridiculous. Not that I don’t like the game, but all the fed-exing at the end in Chapters 5 and 6 is getting to be a little much. Dragon’s Eye levels 1 and 2 started out nice with lots of hack and slash, but since then it has been way too much “go here, talk to him, go there, get this”… I guess they are just trying to lull me into a sense of security before the final battle, which I hear is a good one.

Actually, there have been some good fights, like the one with Xvim’s avatar and all his little demon friends. And what is up with those slayer knights of Xvim? They must eat their Wheaties because they are freakin tough. Do they ever drop any weapons? I wonder what kind of axes or two handed swords they are using because they have come darn close to killing several of my characters.

Speaking of weapons, it is odd that throughout most of the game I did not find many weapons for “evil” only characters (which is fine since all mine are good anyway), but now that I am at the Hand, all the unique weapons I find are for evil only… Well, at least I can sell them to Riki for a good price so that I can afford the +5 arrows she’s selling. And there has been some need stuff in the Hand like Xvim's scimitar and the Chains of Dracas armor, which is awesome for Rogues, Rangers, and Mages.

    *sigh*

    'Tis true, 'tis true.

IwD2 just doesn't live up to the original. Yes, they definately improved on the gameplay. I like the new setup.

But, a game is always a mix of art *and* story. Sadly, it's like Fallout2. They just ran out of ideas...

One more thing that kind of sucked about chapter 6 is that all of the quest xp becomes really really crappy again. Most of the quests netted me only around 750 xp. This is like the prologue and chapter 1 all over again. What gives with that???
