I finished HoF in 49 days 11 hours (in-game time) with a 3-man party. I was wondering if that is considered fast or slow. I know I could have done it faster by not traveling back and forth on the overland map so much, and by skipping Battle Squares (I did 2/3 of it before I gave up).

So post your times, Normal or HoF.

In-game time is a wee bit irrelevant because it depends more on how many healing spells your party has. A party with no clerics might rest for a month between encounters.

A month? Only if the party was too cheap to buy potions.

Game time is irrelevant in that the time taken doesn't affect the game in any way, not even on a score list (remember the days when games had high score lists after you beat them? Usually not RPGs though).

But it is relevant in the sense that if you try hard you can improve your speed, and the more you improve the harder it gets.

The faster a party completes the game, the more powerful it could be said to be, although there are other ways to measure power, such as how rarely it gets killed or how quickly it kills monsters.

I think it is to dependant upon your playstyle. As he said earlier, how your party is buildt up plays to big a factor to really rank this. a party of 6 clerics would barelly need to rest at all.

First time I played IWD2 I had no character with healing spells. Every time I rested for full healing I had to rest for over 30 days. I finished game after few years of in-game time :)

@JT: If you want to compare HoF times you should tell if you started with level1 characters without equipment or high-level(which level ?) characters with superb equipment having used permanent stat-rising items.

I'm curious what your party was.

My first game (no walkthrough, as few reloads as possible) will probably take longer since I can't afford skipping rest when I've run out of important spells. It took me more than 40 days game time to get to dragon's eye.

kmonster, 40 days to dragon's eye is about the same speed I had... of course the later you are in the game the more spells you have so the less often you need to rest.

My party was a cleric and two sorcs.
