    Basically, forever. Only a few quests are timed, most of which are in the Underdark. As long as no specific time interval is given in the conversation for getting the quest, there is no time limit.

    Actually all of the NPC quests are also timed. The NPCs will complain after a while (a couple of days I think) if you're not doing anything for their quest, and they will only do this once: the next time (another few days later) they'll simply leave the party forever. So try not to delay doing his quest (besides it's quite easy)

    When he's been in the party for 3 days and you haven't gone after it, he will complain. IIRC, after another day or 2 of not doing the quest, he will leave and you have to pay him to join you again. Once you start it, you should be able to get him to stay.
