Sorry for being rather descriptive than accurate, but I've last played BG1 much over a year ago and that wasn't an English version.

I know of INT tome in a wizard's tower in BG City, WIS & STR under Candlekeep, DEX at Gnoll Fortress and CON in the place you find the captain from Nashkel.

For not-so-righteous guys there's the WIS book from Tymora's priest that's to be given to Umberlee clergy for removing the geas from your would-be murderer. One beggar is told to have a CHA book that may be stolen from him.

In Tosc there's a WIS tome lying on some altar in Durlag's Tower.

Does anyone know of more books or more accurate directions than given by me?

Don't think there's anymore books though

Actualy, the book in gnoll stronghold increases CHAR, and the DEX one is in the room with merchant (woman) at shadow thieves place in baldurs gate.

Right. My previous info was incorrect. Anyone knows of other books? Like the case with the beggar who has a CHA book to be stolen? I think there may well be more of that.

There is only one for each stat except for Wisdom.
Two or three of those depending if you have TotSC installed and can get to Durlag's Tower.

If you're willing to pick a fight with the Umberlee clergy, you can get keep the Tome of Understanding and still rid the other person of his geas.

Simply demand the geas scroll first, and then pick the line that goes 'I guess the joke is one you'. Jalantha and the rest of the Umberlites then attack. If you've reached Baldur's Gate by now, you should be able to survive and keep the Tome for yourself.

Having your cake and eating it too!

[IMG] Or you can give the Umberlee people the Wisdom tome then pickpocket it back. Make sure you don't leave the area first, get it right back fast!

This is probably the best way for a role-playing Paladin or other Lawful Good guy/gal to get it.

    No killing needed...

Actually stealth is not really LG :D

    Murdering them all isn't either.

Anyway, the only reason you take the book from the priest of Tymora is that you need it to save someone else's life... So if you do roleplay actually... well the book is not for you in this case :D
