Here in Manitoba, we had one of the coldest and longest winters, even by Manitoba standards.

    And now this:

    http://news.ca.msn.com/top-stories/heat-wave-breaks-daily-records-in-ontario-quebec-1

Yep, its spilled over into Manitoba as well.

I'm like 'wtf?!' Now before you jump to the global warming bandwagon, I am personally a skeptic. My sense is global warming has been used to explain away a lot of things, including too hot and too cold all at once. I remember during the winter, I once told somebody: "How can anybody believe in global warming during a winter like this?" To me, it just doesn't make sense.

Let me briefly jump on that wagon to explain why and then I'll add something else.

Global Warming doesn't mean everything just gets warmer. It also means weather gets more extreme-thus it brings both floods and droughts when you may guess it would only one. So a harsh winter doesn't discount the possibility of Global Warming.

To the "else". I believe there is a La Nina going on, which means summer weather may not be the norm. We don't know if the likelihood of a La Nina is Global Warming related or not right now but you're going to get weather related to it. My sympathies but know if we in Wisconsin can survive what is effectively 100 degree days (near that temp plus plenty of humidity) you can to. Though I'll leave it up to you to determine if you want to do follow my example or not without, for the most part, air conditioning.

I'm not complaining about the heat. IMHO, you got to pick what you want to complain about, and I dislike extreme cold much more than extreme heat. So I'll stick to belly-aching about the winter.

This is no doubt related to growing up in the mountains of northern Pennsylvania. The running joke there is that the four seasons there are June, July, August, and winter.

I'd sell my left arm for a week of hot weather. Here in Alberta during the summers in prior years there would be some rain, and lots of days between 25-30C. This summer it hasn't been warmer than 25 and it's been rainy. This month we've barely gone three days without rain.

In past years the farmers were constantly complaining about how we haven't had enough rain to grow a good crop. This year they are complaining about how we've had to much rain and it's drowning the crops and they can't get equipment into the fields to work their crop.

    It sucks. I miss camping.

Dude I'm loving the rain -- when it rains, the GD mosquitoes stay at home. Of course, when the rain stops, all that standing waters means we get an effing SWARM of the little devils.

It also cools things off, which is good for hefty sized folk like me who can't deal with extreme heat.

I don't mind a little rain to cooil it off but it has gotten out of hand. It's been nothing but rain. And if the rain would have stayed away and let us enjoy our near drought conditions the blood suckers SOB's would never have been born.
