Mine would have to be:
Coran:Best Archer & best Thief in the game.
Xzar:He's nuts but as a dual Mage-Cleric he Rocks!
Tiax:Rules All!

I like Minsc, Branwen and Kivan

Vay-ya is in Baldur's Gate on that ship, Low Lantern.

Joinable NPCs would be Dynaheir and Kivan.

 

Coran & Kivan for archery-ness, and Minsc for fun.

 

*Yeh Coran just goes crazy with a bow huh

*Safana because she's hot

*Khalid because he's a little b!tch but he CAN ACTUALLY HOLD HIS OWN if you play him correctly. People say he's weak but I disagree because the dwarf that everyone goes on about isn't that good

 

Montaron: Great voiceset if your reputation is low enough. He's the true evil killer.

 

Minsc, he just knows what to say.

 

Coran is arguably the most powerful joinable NPC in the original BG1 pound for pound, considering the way the game works.

Get him Drizzt's chainmail (which allows him to stealth), the bow of marksmanship, and the bracers of archery (not that he really needs the bracers, but hey, why not), and he'll be powerful and useful the whole game through.

Amazingly, Coran is also one of the most interesting and affable NPCs in the game personality-wise as well.

 

Not to mention he takes attention to safana

 

Top NPCs (No particular order):

Xzar: He can dual class into a cleric with one tome of wisdom.

Khalid: He's the most balanced fighter in the game and kicks ass with the GooP.

Kivan & Coran: One word...Archery.

 

Minsc, need I say more Boo?

 

Imoen : She is a good thief and required for story
Minsc : Probably the funniest NPC in all games.
Kivan : Cool ranger seeking revenge. I like this type of characters.

Also I like Vay-ya too.

 

I can't help but give honerable mentions to Montaron, this guy nearly backstabbed Drittzz to death for me once!

 

In no particular order:

Kivan (cool character, good archer)
Coran (good archer, can replace Imoen)
Yeslick (my favourite tank)

 

Imoen: Best Mage and Thief for a Good party.
Coran: This guy just racks up the kills for me every time.
Yeslick: I love Dwarves, and it's a shame there's only one good aligned dwarf in the game.

 

Yeslick and Branwen. I love using clerics as tanks with Minsc behind them dealing out the damage.

 

What's that thief's name that you can only get at night? Is she any good? I think she resides in BG

 

Alora the halfling, she's a cute character and pretty good. By then though, most people have a set party.
