I'm trying to determine what circumstances allow summons to set off Traps in the BG games. I'm currently playing BG 1 in Tutu, and have found that in BG2, Summons won't usually set off traps. I also know of at least 2 exceptions to this in ToB, and maybe one in BG2.

Can anyone with a "normal" BG1 install enlighten me on if summons will spring traps in BG1? We're only talking "floor" traps, not doors or chests.

Thanks in advance for any input.

It depends--every trap (be it floor, door, or chest) uses a script, which means this can vary from trap to trap as many of the scripts are unique and not necessarily shared. I believe that most of the traps are set to detect [ANYONE] which would include summons or, for that matter, enemies. One notable exception are the chessboard traps in Durlag's Tower. They are specifically keyed to Player[1-6], so summons and enemies will not set off the traps there.

Ok, that helps. Might have to fire up NI one of these days and do a "Guide to Traps." Of course, considering my copious free time, it might take me until about 2010. Oh well, something to do when the wife and baby are both napping.
