I've recently been having trouble with a crashing problem during the second half of Yaga-Shura's battle. I get to the city, buff, head down to Yaga, and he does his "evil rant". I smack him, and he runs away. So far, so good. I start slaughtering his cronies (I have the Ascention mod installed, btw), and he shows up moments later. Here's where the crash comes in. It usually happens after one of the Lieu. Mages casts Time Stop (oddly, sometimes they'll cast it more than once), and real-time continues. Only once or twice has it happened before anyone cast Time Stop. On my last play-through, I had very few problems with the fight. I haven't tried un-installing yet, as I wanted to try and fix the bug before resorting to that. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Maybe your system specs just barely meet the minimum requirements of the game?

The Yaga-Shura battle involves a lot of changing graphics occurring all at once on the screen, which can place quite a demand on the system.

Maybe changing your video options in the game configuration might help as well.

Checked that already - the battle's kinda laggy, but our computer has plenty of power to run this game well overall, and I've already toned down some of the graphic settings.
I don't know if this may help, but when the crash occurs, I get the "Windows error" sound (the doink :) ), and the screen goes black. I can C+A+D to close BG, and restart the game - it doesn't fully crash the computer.

You can try to kill the mage preventing him from casting time stop, have you tried that? having Keldorn or some characters (having more then one person to cast Cleric spells is a help) cast truesight + Dispel then he'll be open to a 101 ways of been chunked to death :)

To test if it's the mage, just hit him with a CTRL Y command. That way you'll know one way or the other.

I've never had the game crash at this point but it once happened in the fight with Sendai when I didn't bother dealing with the Drow she summons and I had a dozen of them on the screen. At the same time, Sendai's spell animations were taking place and three of my party members were casting spells that have wonderful displays. After a minute of very slow gameplay, the thing just crashed.

The Improved Yaga-Shura fight requires a ridiculous system. I remember that my old one which had more than double the minimum specs of the game could not handle it.

I haven't tried the fight on my new computer yet, but I'll let you know.

How much RAM does your system have?

It just might be your system, I've gone through the game a ton of times, (about 50 or so), and have never crashed... My comps specs are a minimum of 10 times that required too though :)

Found out what the problem was, and fixed it. My g/f likes to play the game sometimes on Novice mode, and for some reason, Ascention's Yaga-Shura battle doesn't agree with that. I bumped the setting up to Normal, and she got through just fine. Thanks for all the tips, though.
