Hi, I've recently found BG I at last, but I wanted to have it use some of the things Baldur's Gate II had - not least, better graphics, kits, and the like. So I install both games (Complete Saga and ToB), install TUTU (version 4), do everything in the way the help page says (I believe I installed a few WeiDU mods before TUTU, but that was mentioned as allowed), and then the trouble starts. First the installation .exe tells me my BG II is not patched - and it was. Then it started to install kits for various NPCs, but only that - no more files, conversions or the like. I thought I had a really fast PC (yeaaaah right) but as you can imagine, neither BG I nor II worked afterwards.

So apparently I will need some help. Have I forgotten something important, or is there some bug or something?

Have you tried Easytutu? it is much better. Also try re-installing the patch for ToB. If worst comes to worst, just to a complete re-install and add only the core files to run BGtutu.

Ah, thanks. By the way, there was something that allowed to give BG I NPCs kits... do you remember what it was?

Easy Tutu is most definitely better than standard Tutu. Here is the page where you can download it:

    Easy Tutu

On that page you can also download optional components to enhance your game. One of these adds kits to the NPC (about halfway down the page).

Ah, ok. I tried it and things seem well so far... Now the only thing left is to shape up NPCs. There are two things left to do:

    - install the divine remix pack; making Bran and Viconia specialty priestesses and allowin the PC to be a kit priest too (so far I've installed it, but it doesn't seem to work). Are there some mods that make this mod fail?

    - enable dual-classing again. As soon as I installed Tutu, Imoen - among others - can't dualclass. And I so wanted to make her a swashie-mage... I don't see her or Skie backstabbing someone, to be honest.Well, Skie in particular, but Immy too.

    - a possible extra would be to restore the "old" grandmastery benefits. Ease of Use allows this in BGII, but I am not sure about its effect on Tutu.

So far, what I have installed is the following:

    - Easytutu
    - Tutufix 17
    - Easytutu NPC Fix
    - BGI GUI (the old interface)
    - Sirine's Call
    - I plan to install BG I Unfinished Business

    1) That is odd- I started a new game this morning with a cleric of Sune and other than the mysterious disappearance of her spiritual weapon, I have had no problems. Divine Remix should be compatible with Easy Tutu as far as I'm aware.

    2) Again, I haven't had this problem- I picked up Immy in the game I just mentioned and upon gaining second level, she could dual-class as normal.

Are you sure Imoen is second level (you cannot dual-class without at least two levels in your original class)?

    3) There used to be a mod called Tutu Tweaks, but that has been combined into BG2 Tweaks which is available at G3. BG2 Tweaks is compatible with Easy Tutu.

Ah, maybe it was that. All NPCs started at level 1, so maybe imoen will get to dual-class when she becomes lvl 2. I will have to see, though. As for 1) you are talking about Tutu, not BG II, right?

Is there something important about the order of installation, like something having to be installed before you clone the BGII into Tutu, or last among all mods?

Yes, I was talking about Tutu there, should have made it a bitty clearer.

I'm not aware of a particular install order needed for Divine Remix- I actually installed it onto Tutu this very morning, just before I started that new game. That would make it the most recently installed. Unless there is some sort of mix-up between Remix and NPC kits...

You could try re-installing them with Remix last and starting a new game to see if that helps. Other than that, I'm running out of ideas.

I would recommend installing Divine Remix near the end of your stack of mods. What is the problem--did it fail to install, or did it install but there's some other problem? Are you sure you installed it in your Tutu directory, and not your BG2 one? Are you sure you chose to install new kits, and not just the main component?

FYI, a new version (with a couple of new kits and other goodies) should be out in a month or so.
