So, I just started a new game in BGTutu, my PC being a monk. I recall EasyTuTu had an issue with the starting hitpoints, and thus my level 1 monk ended up with 18 hp.

I'm going to SK this, but I need to know a couple of things.

    1) What's a monk's hitdice? I read somewhere it was a priest's d8, but could someone confirm this?

    2) Does a monk get the +4 hitpoint bonus from CON 18 like warriors do, or does he get just +2?

I tried to make a monk with the same stats in BG2, but apparently I didn't get max hitpoints even though I was on easy difficulty.

If someone could shed some light on this, I'd be very grateful.

    i think it's the d8 or d10.

no plusses for 18 con, only upto 16 for all other classes than fighter

Hmm. Looks like most google results count Monk as a priest so its d8. Thanks Balle.

It's d8 and a maximum con bonus of +2. Starting with 18 is very strange, as I don't even know how that would be calculated. Is it doing 2d8 with a +2 con bonus?

    Hello -

EasyTutu carried forward some starting HP issues from conventional Tutu, but fixed all of them (that I am aware of) as of the 21 May 2006 release.

    D8.

    +2.

On occasion with BG2 I've seen an extra level worth of HP (without CON bonus) added and had to SK it out. I'm not sure what causes it, but having a level 7 warrior with 19 CON and 115 HP was one result.

You probably need them with the Monk anyway. Early Baldurs Gate 1 is hard enough anyway, but with no armour on? No thanks! I played with the idea of starting a Monk, but I bet you die at the first gibberling.

Perhaps if he was soloing, but he never mentions that he is, so I assume that he's taking a party along.

You would not necessarily die. I tried using a Tutu monk for a bit a fair while ago now, never finished it. However, at the start I managed to get Imoen killed (oops), so I accidentally soloed the first several parts of the game. Monks don't seem to be as bad in the first parts of BG as you'd expect.
