Which should I go with, BG Tutu or Baldur's Gate Trilogy?

EasyTutu. It lets you keep all three installations separate so that you can play classic BG1, Tutu, or BG2, without having to uninstall Tutu. And it doesn't have the issues that I've heard BGT has.

I second that. EasyTUTU got rid of the few minor issues which I disliked about the original TUTU (e.g. problematic transition from BG1 to BG2, problem with golden pantaloons).

    Hello -

I will certainly advocate for Tutu, and for EasyTutu in particular, but then, I can also be accused of a lack of impartiality.

For what it's worth, though, I say that Tutu is the primary target platform for the best mods available, and that its decision to keep the two games separate is fundamentally more sound than BGT's approach.

Tutu and Easy Tutu in particular. No contest.

    Harbourboy's Dumb Question for Today:

Do you need to have BG installed (and have the BG disks at the ready) in order to play BGTutu?

Yes, you have to have both games installed, for the Tutu installer to have things to grab (same with BGT). I believe you have to have a full install of BG1, because when I play Tutu, it asks for the BG2 CD in the drive. And you couldn't have both a BG2 CD (for the engine) and a BG1 CD (for the data) in the same drive.

Ooh, so you don't need all five of your BG CDs available then? That is the part that would put me off. The idea of playing BG under BGII rules appeals as something that might be relatively entertaining.

Well, you would need them for the full install, but afterwards, yeah you wouldn't need them.
