    Etchnith has a thin atmosphere and quite a flattened orbit for most of the year is too far from the sun to provide sufficient warmth, a lot of the landmass has frozen and compacted Earth, vegetation is sparse and far in between. Most races and civilisations are nomadic, following hers of creatures and groups of predators as their food sources.

    In the two longest seasons where the planet is in a winter state the seas are often frozen over in most parts allowing travel between continents and islands to get to fresher lands where there is remnant plants to feed on or use as firewood in the case of sentient and civil races.

    Most of the planet is sea based with 85% of the surface being part of the seas or oceans. The poles of the planet are frozen all year round like on Earth but extend lower than they do, the equator is still the warmest part of the planet but the frozen rains can make it a hazardous place all year round in comparison to calmer weather patterns in other lands.
