UB - illithium quest can't find duergar's brother

so I've looked EVERYWEHRE in the temple ruins, several times, and I can't find the duergar's brother. When I return to the Cooper Corronet, the Duergar won't initiate dialog anymore. What should I do? Can I still get my hands on the illithium despite this evident bug?

 

In the shadow temple, go across the bridge, across the lava. The next room has the bones of Amauna in it. Head south into the passage way, and head left. he should be there. You may need a sungem to open a door.

 

Well I found him by instead of going over the bridge and the lava then just continue down the hall you enter the dungeon in. There before the glasswall...

 

I've looked there and everywhere, just can't find him... do you need to dispel illusions or something to find him??
btw, before doing the illithium quest I had done the umar hills quests and killed the dragon

 

He was hard to see, but I had no need of magic

However the one time I've tried this quest with UB the Duergar in the Cooper Coronet wouldn't initiate a dialog even after I've found his brother. So that meant no illithium and a skip of this component on my next BG2 install

 

It's been a while, but shouldn't you go to that inn in Bridge District before?

 

well, i'll look again, but i'm pretty certain i've searched every square inch of the dungeon, including the areas you've described...
Plus his brother doesn't initiate dialog anymore, so i guess it must be some sort of bug...
I'll just go find Neb and the illithium on my own itn the bridge district, but not very RPGish..
UB has some good ideas, but it is quite buggy - unkillable trolls rattled my nerves also...

 

IIRC last time I played UB I found him in the room next to the trapped shadow just past the letter tile floor puzzle.

Then try look at the modders forum at PPG.

 

You can try use console to spawn him. I'm not sure if this causes more bugs or not.

If you want to try type this in the console:
CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("Gorje")

 

as of the most recent version of UB -- he is in front of the magically locked -- unopenable wall/door. After you clean the ruin, there should be only one such wall, and so it's not hard to find. you probably didn't get to there. No need to go through lava and puzzle room and such.

 

I have locked in front of the door, not there.

And the brother in the cooper corronet dosen't talk anymore.

Edmond Dantes, I’ve had the exact same problem as you (a few times, actually).

I don’t think you can actually finish this quest, because in order to get access to Neb, you need to have talked to Gorje’s brother after you find Gorje, which you haven’t been able to do. I’ve tried consoling in Gorje, but I don’t recall if that worked. The only other option is to console in the illithium (and other items from Neb if you want). Technically a cheat, but using the console to work around a bug isn’t really cheating IMO.

 

I've encountered my share of bugs with UB as well, though I don't think this particular quest ever broke for me.

Unkillable trolls always seem to be in my games (I just run from them) and the restored encounters in Athkatla seem to break a lot (e.g. Arkanis Gauth encounter, Bodhi encounter, etc). Everytime I install UB, I find that I'm using less and less of it's options. I'm down to just a few that I would still consider using.

 

Gorje not present fix: Go to place where he should spawn(1197.1917) and type in console: CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("FindGorje","GLOBAL",1).

If he doesn't show up, use CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("FindGorje","GLOBAL",2) and CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("gorje")

Then talk to him and return to Copper Coronet.

 

There's a fix for unkillable trolls wich can be dl'ed at PPG

 

Unkillable trolls should also be fixed in the next update of the mod--which will hopefully be quite soon! (I've been away for a year or so due to RL work issues.)

I don't know what could be causing the Gorje problem.
