Anyone watch this? Awesome viewing I reckon, especially when you've got two hitters really going toe-to-toe.

If you've not seen it yet, I'd really suggest tuning in if you like to see 2 guys kicking seven shades of sh!t out of each other.

Try and catch any fight that has Chuck Liddell, Coal Uno, Matt Hughes or Rich Franklin.

I got to see my first match about a month ago and it featured Ken Shamrock. It was very cool. I don't want to sound violent but controlled vilence, like boxing and UFC, is pretty awsome.

 

I remember some of the old UFC fights, back before they did it in rounds, and there were a lot fewer rules. They had one night tournaments to crown champions and everything...

Excellent stuff.

 

Its all over Spike TV these days. It's good entertainment but i've noticed that its gotten a lot more commercialized in the last few years.

I remember the good old days when a Boxer was put up against a Karate blackbelt or somesuch thing, and, as Gnarfflinger mentioned, there were much fewer rules. That was good watching.

 

I remember one match from UFC number 4 where one guy got out og a head lock by repeatedly punching a guy in the nuts until he released the hold...

 

I'm a recent fan of the UFC. But I have seen a few early fights. But I don't know about you guys, but I like it way better now, with the added rules. The fighters have a lot more protection against injuries. Even more than boxing. And I don't think the entertainement really suffered for it...

Have you seen the Ultimate Fighter 4 : The comeback? It's a reality show of UFC fighters that for a reason or another dropped out of it or never made it to the top. There is two weight classes and the winner of each weight class at the end of the show gets a title shot.

 

I've seen a few episodes. It's interesting. Sometimes you wonder why they didn't make it, and what they think will be different now.

 

A lot of them dropped out of the UFC because they had personnal problems. One or two of them either had nasty divorces ou battled alcoolism. Matt Serra, for exemple, stopped fighting to focus on his combat school. Now he's ready to fight again.

But I think the coaches they brought in are pretty awesome. The regular coaches are Randy Couture (former champion and hall of famer), George St-Pierre (contender to the welterweight division) and another guy whose name I can't spell. And as guest coaches, they had Rich Franklin (current middleweight champion) and Chuck Lidell (current welterweight champion)... Interesting times...

If anybody is watching it, did you hear about Franklin's advice to drop a knee when starting a fight???

 

Uhh, discussing UFC/EliteXC/Cage Rage/TKO/Bodog and the others was exactly why I created Random MMA babbling.
