[IMG] Hey guys!!! :) Ir's been awhile, well first a side question, do casters receive additional spells after level 20? With that in mind I would like to hear your opinion on what would make the Ultimate Solo Character?

I know that many people go with the pally(1)sorcerer(29) build but I would like to know other possibilities, and what race?

    Thanks a lot!!! :D

Aasimar paladin(3)/fighter(4)/sorcerer(23). Max out CHA, give nice physical stats. Weapon Specialisation in longsword, improved criticals. All fighting buffs. Stoneskin, mirror image, shield and the like. Mordenkainen's Sword. Tenser's Transformation. If you plan it well before all battles, you'll be unstoppable. Colossal strength, abysmal dexterity, borderline impossible to hit bonus, massive damage without critical even. Untouchable saves... Good DC, especially with Eagle's Splendour (hint: if it lasts more than 8 hours, it will be in effect even after you go to bed memorise your spells and wake up the next day  ). As for other parts of your arsenal: max out Spell Penetration, Evocation school, Spirit of Flame. Other elemental feats, perhaps, if you can accommodate them. Or school feats. Be sure to take subvocal casting, just for the comfort of not having to reload so often

If you don't want to bother with micromanagement, go for svirfnebli monk with maxed out WIS and DEX. Abysmal AC, lots of immunities, bliss.

    Cheesy Archer:

    1. Since you need some stats high, you have to sacrifice some others.

    2. DEX gives you both AC and to hit bonus, therefore you will want to go for untouchability rather than simple HPs. Ergo: screw CON.

    3. If you screw HP, you do need some good AC. Max out your DEX.

    4. Be even more cheesy than that. Get a lawful alignment, monk levels and max out WIS. After all, armour doesn't like high DEX. Monk also gives evasion.

    5. If you go for ranger, at least 4 levels of fighter. Weapon Specialisation for bows and short swords. If you aren't lawful, get rogue(2) and ranger(1) at least. Free dual-wielding and lots of skills, such as hide and move silently. And evasion. Start as rogue, if you ever get it. Just for the skill points.

    6. Potion of holy transference: +2 WIS for -1 DEX. Well, it's one point ahead of normal +1 point per 4 levels progression. If you, by any chance, happen to have paladin levels (not a bad idea, BTW), Kuldahar quest gives +1 STR and +1 WIS. Free +2 WIS then, together, isn't it?

    7. Dash feat and either monk or barbarian levels. After all, you do need to run away to fire those deadly arrows of yours.

    8. Rapid shot. You'll have plenty of attack bonus, anyway, and this attack comes at the highest bonus.

    9. Don't remember the name of the close quarter shooting feat reducing the penalty from -8 to -4. You will be able to afford -4 and better off with close quarter archery than close combat melee, anyway ;)

    10. Wonder if Power Attack works with ranged weapons. If so, 14 STR might not be a bad idea. It would also allow to carry more without putting everything in bag of holding and back into the inventory. More damage in your finessed and specialised short sword melee, too.

    11. Going for paladin might not be a bad idea. Especially if you're lawful and with lots of Wisdom. It gets fighter BAB progression, same HP and also some spells that increase your fighting performance. Ranger spells won't be this useful. Fighter only gets feats - and you don't need many.

    12. Improved Criticals and Dirty Fighting. Slow them and hit them more easily as well as slow down their attack rate. Or blind them and make them much less able to fight.

    13. Consider experimenting with Cleric as the main class. It does lose some attack bonus and HP, but the spells are better than the paladin's. Especially with your huge WIS score. More healing, more buffs, some summoning, too (Lathander, Evocation (2), Spell Penetration (2), Spirit of Flame)...

    @Chev

    My head hurts now....thanks :p

Heres a couple I've tried and posted about somewhere on SP. Not the ultimate but I think they are pretty powerful.

Wild Elf or Drow Sorcerer (19) Bard (11)
Max Charisma and have high dex.
The Sorcerer and Bard spell progression is based on charisma so level 1 - 4 or 5 spells will get the bonuses twice and you can pick even more early spells. When you've ran out of spells make him sing. Thsi is good as the leader as he is a very good talker and it may be a good idea to put points into int and wis.

Note: This is best used in a party.

This is also a good char but takes a bit of a mess on to build at first. Take levels in this order...

    Drow female

Monk (3) Fighter (4) Dreadmaster of Bane (23)

This char must have high wisdom and dexterity and not wear armour. Put all points from level ups into wisdom giving a mega AC and bonus priest spells.

    Finally, a rogue type.

    Human

    fighter (4) Barbarian (6) Ranger (5) Rogue (15)

Ok I really can't remeber much here except take the sixth barbarian level last and that this is one very powerful fighter that does a fair ammount of sneak damage. Take the rogue level first to get the bonus skill points.

Its been a while since I played so I can't really remember the ins and outs so this wasn't very indepth....sorry. :)
