    Thanks for looking. ;)

How do you get to the Umar Hills?
I wanted to get Mazzy in my party as early as possible.

I tried to exit the city gates but no land area appears on the map next to it like it did in BG1. I'm new to BG2.

I hope I don't have to do something special to open up every spot of land in Amn. That's one thing I loved about BG1, that it was so non-linear. I could go and do pretty much as I pleased.

Does anyone have a map/chart of all the places in Amn and what you must do to open them up?

To open the Umar Hills region on the map you must talk to a boy in the goverment district. If you have Minsc in your party I beleive the boy will find you.
You can still do this quest whenever you want you dont have to do it as soon as you get it.

I assure you Aces, that BG2 is a much better game and is at least as non-linear as BG1 was. :)
So don't worry about that. You do get new areas as in BG1, here you will get assignemnts from different persons, and they'll update your map. There aren't as many areas as in BG1, but the game is still ALOT bigger!

If you haven't done so yet, go to the Copper Coronet in the Slums and there you'll get lots of work. Have fun!!

Also, if you think about it logically, you wouldn't know where someplace was until someone told you about it. You may have a map of the city, but the not the map of the country.
