Just wanted to update everyone, the game is finally clicking for me. Playing a kickass Elf Ranger (18/33S, 19D, 17C, 10I, 16W, 15Cha). Just getting ready to tackle the Nashkel Mines. I do have a question about the TOTSC addon, when is the best time to tackle these quests? I'm currently planning to do it right before I enter Baldur's Gate. Is this a good time? Also have a quick question. I currently have Imoen duel classed to mage, Minsc, Dynaheir, Jaheira, and Branwen for my good aligned party although I am not enspecially happy with either Jaheira or Branwen. Any good suggestions for replacing them with someone else? Is there any characters that are plot essential? I was thinking maybe replacing either Branwen or Jaheira with Yeslick. I like having 2 people with real healing ability. Is there anyone better for a 20 rep party that can do alot of healing or does anyone have any better suggestions? Thanks for any help on this.

IIRC there are four major clirics that will fit with a rep 20 party TN Jaheira TN Branwen CN Quale and Yeslic works as well. I do not recall and XG clirics in the game There is also a TN shadow druid that Is rather dispicable for the druids bas spells. I beleve theat Tiax is a CE cleric(never used him) as well a CE drow cleric by the name of Viconia.

    No, no characters are plot-essential.

    Cleric?

    -Jaheira, Fighter/Druid, decent warrior.
    -Branwen, good cleric.
-Viconia, evil cleric with 50% magic resistance. Handy, but she'll not fit in.
-Faldorn, she's just an average druid.
-Quayle, hands down the worse cleric in the game with his lousy wisdom.
-Tiax, perhaps the most famous character in BG1. Chaotic evil, though.
-Yeslick, nice guy (Lawful Good), dwarf, fighter/cleric. This is a good character to have, actually.

It depends. Jaheira can fight better then Branwen but Branwen's a better cleric. And Jaheira's a druid, and entangle is handy.

    Glad you're liking it Jschild.

    When to start ToftSC
My personal preference is after Chapter 6. There are some monsters in the expansion that insist you up yourself a few levels to have a fair chance.

Whether to replace Branwen or Jaheira

Branwen isn't all that bad, but not outstandingly great either. Her spells are very useful though. The problem with Yeslick is that it's a long wait to get him.

BG2 aside, Jaheira rocks in BG1 if you know the right set up for her.

Ankheg plate armor + a shield + the Dagger of Venom + Darts of Stunning = Jaheira ready to rock n' roll. And she makes a pretty good secondary healer on top of that.

I agree that it is nice to have two healers. If I had to choose two of three (Jaheira, Yeslick and Branwen), I would take Jaheira and Yeslick. My reasoning is this: You get both cleric and druid spells this way, and because you have two people who can heal, it's OK that they are multi-class. They won't get quite as many spells as a true cleric or druid, but they are much better in battle than Branwen can ever become.

One point on your party that I would bring up is I find it odd that you have two mages. If Imoen is a mage and is of a decent level, you really don't need Dynaheir. And, if Imoen dual-classed at a fairly early level, who is taking care of the thieving needs of the party? By the time you are ready to do Durlag's Tower, you are going to need a thief who is very proficient at finding traps, disarming traps, and picking locks, or you're going to have a hard go at it. My suggestion would be to replace Branwen with Yeslick, and pick up a thief. You're still in the Naskel mines, so there are a bunch of thieves still available for you. I assume since you're playing a good party, you wouldn't want any evil thieves. You could get Safana, who I think is CN, but would fit into your party and is probably the second best thief in the game after Imoen. If you insist on a good thief, there's Coran (CG) and if you're willing to wait until you can get into Baldur's Gate, there's Alora (NG). I would probably get rid of Dynaheir although you can't ask her to leave without Minsc going with her. You may have to arrange for an "accident" to happen.

Actually took you up and just added Garrick who I will probably swap out with Coran later soon. He's kicking serious butt with the light crossbow of speed, god how i hate gibberling hoards, I dont think a single one has hurt a single charadcter the entire game.
