    If you play with Rogue or Bard, over 20th level you can choose a special ability that allows you to use any item without any class restrictions.

    That is a ToB thing, nothing you can get in SOA. This topic should have been in the ToB forum as it deals with ToB related issues, if you have ToB installed use the ToB forum :) .

    [​IMG] For a Thief you need to reach Thief-24 to get the High Level Abilities (HLA's). "Use Any Item" is one of them.

    As it sounds, it literally allows you to use any item in the game. With some imagination, it can be used to considerable effect.

    As I recall, while playing an evil party, myself and a few others have HaerDalis use the Holy Avenger.

    My NE fighter/thief uses the Familiar Scroll to obtain a Dust Mephit familiar.

    Since my fighter/thief is also a dual-wielding character, I also had him use Montolio's Cloak. The only limitation is your own imagination.

    I think it is the best skill a thief-type can get - it helps them become almost an all-rounder!
    It is the first skill I learn once I have a Thief level 24.

    It is particularly good for a dual classed thief (assassin even!) cleric or a gnomish thief cleric, because they can still use all the bladed weapons as a cleric and backstab with something better than a club! Just compare Celestial Fury or Avangral Longsword (sorry for the "spelling") with the Gnasher or Blackblood clubs. Ouch :eek:

    BTW, I think the high level abilities start when you have a certain amount of XP (3 000 000?) and not at a specific level.
    A multiclass fighter/thief/mage would get them at the same time as a single class character.
