    I am new to these type of games. I am trying to figure out how to use the spell scrolls I gather. I have looked on the boards and the suggestion was to right-click on the spell and there would be a "write-to" option.

    Did that and didn't see one. Any help would be appreciated!

    Only mages or bards can scribe scrolls, specialist mages can't scribe scrolls from their opposing school and they can't scribe scrolls they already know.
    Only mage scrolls can be scribed, priest scrolls can only be used for casting once from them and some protection scrolls (like protection from fire) aren't mage scrolls either.

    — If you dont see a sensible zone written to propose you to try to add the scroll on your spell-book, the four more probable reasons are :

    1) a bug (unlikely) ;

    2) the scroll is NOT for YOUR character class (often the square of paper is slighty orange in this case) ;

    3) you have forgotten that you have ALREADY fixed the spell in your spell-book, (or you have chosen it in your start-choice) ; in this case you can only use, one time, the spell, but directly : cast it !
    How ?
    • place it in one of the three slots of "rapid use" of your character, then click on it when you are in need of it. :)

    4) you are not a mage (a magic-user, a wizard) but a cleric or a druid ; then you can cast spells, but NO learn them and copy them.
    A (usually small) selection of spells, available to you to memorize, is automatically present in your list at every new level of power in magic ! ;)

    I advice you to make a quick save (Q key) before trying to inscribe a new spell in your repertory. :book:

    In case of failure you can reload the game and retry, if you wish.

    A fifth possibility is that you are a specialist mage and the spell is from a school of magic that you do not understand.

    Or, sixth posibility is, if your INT is not that great, you can not learn highest level spells. Learning 9th lvl spells require a solid 18 INT. Other level requirements are written in your manual. (yes IWD actually implemented this rule, unlike BG2)

    So gulp down a potion of genius or mind focusing, your INT will temporarily go up, and you can atempt to scribe the spell. Always quick save before doing so, your INT determines your base chance of success, and you can still fail even with a %95+ chance of succes. (happened to me, a lot! :bang: )
