[IMG] Did anyone try to use that rod more than once? (After killing the Unseeing Eye).
Or taking it to the surface?
Just wondering what happens if you do. I didn't think of it back then.

I tried it the first time through. It didn't do anything for me, so I just gave it back to the people who wanted it. Ever since then I just ignore using it. I'm probably just missing something, but I haven't seen it do ANYTHING.

[IMG] Hm? Didn't you kill the Unseeing Eye with it?
I though that beholder couldn't be blasted with anything else but that rod?
I know I had Anomen with the shield of Balduran running around the beholder lair to find the other piece of the rod, but when he picked it up the other half was magically transferred to my mage (who was standing a mile away), and as soon as I picked it up Unseeing Eye came around the corner and started pounding on Anomen. (Who didn't have the rod now). All of his damage bounced back on the beholder, but it didn't seem to do anything to it. So only after my mage got there and used the rod on the beholder, it fried and died. (Oooh, nice rhyme there!). ;)

No. I killed the Unseeing Eye with about 20 hasted Mountain Bears with the 6th level priest spell Summon or Call Animals. Those things rock. The first wave died to a mass death spell, but after that, they just ran up there and:

    Unseeing Eye: Damage Taken (17)
    Unseeing Eye: Damage Taken (19)
    Unseeing Eye: Damage Taken (21)
    Unseeing Eye: Damage Taken (18)
    Unseeing Eye: Damage Taken (17)
    Unseeing Eye: Damage Taken (16)
    Unseeing Eye: Damage Taken (20)
    Unseeing Eye: Damage Taken (22)
    etc...

I believe it normally tries to Power Word, Kill your lead character, but it never saw my lead. Only bears. Waves upon waves of bears. (Anomen could cast it 6 times by that point, and Aerie could cast it 3.)

    [IMG] Ah... Interesting.
I never use that spell myself. I find the bears to move so horridly slow that it's unbearable. (Unintentional pun here ;) )

    And if you haste them?
    They are monsters...
They have 3 attacks a round normally, and
hasted they have 6. 6 Attacks a round, 5 bears at a time, thats 30 attacks a round.
    30 attacks, say 10/30 hit at 20 damage, 200 damage a round.

    Never thought of that. :p
I rarely use haste on my chars, even though I'm fully aware how powerful it is. Dunno why, but I always end up saving it up for those really big fights and usually end up with it unused when I rest. I guess little ranks high enough on the difficulty scale for me to use it. I even killed the first dragon without using it. (Or any other cheap tactic ;) )

I simply use it because its sooooo fun.
I had Aerie slaughter the entire Beholder Dungeon alone. She just ran around with the Staff of the Magi, Robe of Vecna, and Robe of Mirroring (2 robes?)...

    Summon
    Haste
    Attack

    Summon
    Haste
    Attack

    repeat as desired...

Ditto for the Mind Flayer dungeon, only instead of bears I used Animate Dead.

BTW, how long have you been playing D&D or D&D style RPG's?

Well I've dabbled in pen&paper ad&d for a while around 5 years ago. It was fun for a while but I was soon lacking the time necessary for playing, and finding someone to play with was damn near impossible. (AD&D was little known in this part of Europe and is obscure still). The only thing everyone went nuts about was Magic. (A couple of years ago).
But it seems that just about everyone I know got tired of Magic after a while, sold his cards and never played again. ;)

But then the first Baldur's Gate came along and I was dissapointed because of the lack of sites that would actually have any content relevant to players, not just some crap that they put up to fill the pages. And even if there was a resource, most of them had little there so you had to visit 10 sites to get what you needed.
That's how Sorcerer's Place was born. Main purpose: To have everything available in one place.
    The rest is history.
Oh btw, I played many ad&d oldies bofore the first BG too. And Ultimas. Etc. ;)

Slight correction, Amon Ra, Haste gives ONE extra attack per round, only Improved Haste effectively doubles the amount of attacks.
