[IMG] Does anyone else find they are not using their magic users properly. I seem to use only a few choice spells and then walk around with about 80% of them intact and then rest. It seems I am missing out on a lot of the enjoyment of playing the game, the fighters are able to handle most of what comes along.

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

One way I have overcome this is to start BG1 again and make my main character a single class mage, then I can fully appreciate the usefulness (and POWER :D) of a mage

whooooa. Be carefull with saying that. There are guys in here who are in love with spellcasters :p

Here is a hint to some spells
else use the search engine in the top right corner and write mage or sorcerer as searchword. I know I am getting lazy with my help guys. :(

1st level: Magic missile and Chromatic Orb

2nd level: Agananchers scorcher (OH dear my senility in spelling again) Melfs acid arrow.

    3rd level: Fireball.

This is a pure damage dealer mage...

Magic missile is fast and good against spellcasters. Their spells fizzle.

Melfs and Aga.... is also fast and good against trolls and vampires

fireball is good against almost everything. Just remember to protect Your fighters from fire and attack while YOur mage makes an orbital bombardment. if You chose this kind of barbaric agression please remember the protection :D

But don't you find that between rest periods you still have a lot of spells unused?

I rest to heal, very rarely do I rest because my mage has an empty head ;)

btw, Does anyone know of any good mage scripts?

Cheerz Nobleman I'll Check them out

no good scripts. I just take controll of all my group. Never really used any script.

To your ;) I will add:

If You used your spellcasters better You wouldn't get hit so many times. Hence You would run out of spells before healing. ;) ;) :p

I think the problem with a mage is that you always memorise a range of spells 'just in case'. If you know what is coming up and memorise ones for a specific encouter then you are having to rest all of the time. I don't really see it as a problem though. Comparing it to fighters, its like carrying around potions or arrows or specific weapons that 'might' be handy in certain situations.

I did notice a difference when I played a Sorcerer though. He tended to use up much more of his spell allocation before resting. I think it's just that his flexability comes from always knowing a wide range of spells that he can call on at any time. So he has 'just in case' built into him. For example, you complete a dungeon and find lots of items. As a sorcerer you don't mind using up all your 1st level spells to identify them. If you were playing as a mage you would have been very reluctant to have rested the night before and just memorised identify spells!
