    ok here it goes...

ive gotten my party through aran linvails first 2 quests. now he wants me to clean out the guild lair of the shadow theives arch rival, the vampires in the graveyard district. i met the mage, he opened to door. we killed some badass undead freaks. i went downstairs with PROTECTION FROM UNDEAD on my main character. the vampires didnt attack him so i just walked on by with him alone and found one of the head vamps, Lassal. he wouldnt attack me so i attacked him. he still didnt attack me because of the protection. anyways i blasted him with some lighting and slashed away with my swords. i went downstairs to get a drink, came back up. he was on near death and i had hit him about 40 times for about 10 damage each time. i knew he should have been dead. i figured he could be killed without initializing dialogue. i tried but it didnt work because of the protection he had nothing to say. ANYWAYS, so i went upstairs and tried to go into the room where lassal is. there is this super powerful vampire female called Travor or something like that in the passageway into the torture room with the blood bath in the center. there are THREE OF HER!!! at first i thought they were mirror images but they were all very powerful and all casted spells. she disentigrated aerie, tore the shit out of minsc, jaheira and anomen, before me and yoshimo finally peppered her ass. but all of my dead companions equipment was GONE! ive been thinking about buying like 20 protection from undead scrolls and beating the crap out of her when i get home from work, but i figured i would ask all of you fine folks for advice. thanks for the help! oh god my wrists hurt...

I sent Yoshimo in solo, hasted, hidden and shadows and he back stabbed Tanavor no problem.
She had not duplicated herself yet.
That would be a great spell to have.

Well I didn't try the protection from undead scroll in BG2 only because it worked somewhat 'glitchy' in IWD.

If you have a save game before the Vampire assult then try the spell 'protection from negative plane' and have a handfull of restoration scrolls. You'll know pretty quick if the game responds to this method because it sounds as if it 'glitched' with the undead protection scrolls.

BTW, level draining is a Bitch, an ugly Bitch at that. I dont' want to spoil anything but you'll run into some SERIOUS level drains later on in the game.

I found that a softener in the form of a fire elemental helped, then followed up with my party hastened and enhanced with Defensive Harmony. I lost Jaheira to confusion (and the spike traps) but the others kicked ass, so I only had to cast Harpers Call once, and restoration once :)

Well I didn't try undead hunter kit yet but I think (after reading the posts) it is a useless kit.immunity to level drain and can't be held?amulet of power does the trick for lvl drain. If you have a high lvl cleric(my main char) or Viconia;just give amulet of power and boots of speed and turn to undead.I cleared the whole lair(except for Bodhi and grimwarders) with my priest of Helm and without any effort.Run if they get close and let the holy powers do their job...

I remembered Tanova casting SImulacrum, protection from magical weapons and minor spell turning just after seeing you. What I would advice you of what i would do is first, hasten all your characters and NPCs then cast improved invisibility on your mage and cast pierce shield on her and make all your characters move towards killing Tanova and cast offensive spells at her.
