Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, Stuck After Giovanni Mansion

    Hey. I'm making this post for a friend of mine. He has a bug I saw mentioned before when I was playing this game more actively and all, but now can't seem to find the answer to.

    What happens is that upon finishing the Giovanni Mansion quest and getting the proper truck cutscene etc, he warps back to the prince in his tower. As is normal, I think. What's wrong is that the prince gives the dialogue that should come after the Museum, where you meet Beckett after the sarcophagus is stolen. After this you get thrown out and the receptionist guy won't let you back in. Effectively warping you backwards in the game's time.

    Now I'm asking, what can be done with this? Wasn't there some solution to this bug, and if not then wasn't there some way to just warp to a map and continue the plot from there?

    Yep, you can't play that game properly without that patch. I'm currently playing it too for memory's sake.

    There's a newer version out, 2.1a (or newer), might want to use it instead.

    My friend has the 2.1 version, and it's not working. I don't think the version is the issue there. Of course personally I found problems with 1.6 already so I just played with the 1.3 as I'd found it worked perfectly before. But I'm trying to find him another way out of the problem, instead of re-installing the whole thing, which still might not help. He has experienced an unusual amount of other bugs and crashing regardless of the patch anyway, something that was never an issue to me.

    Sure no-one remembers any mentioning of level warp codes or how and which variables to change depending on where you are in the game etc (like in BG2 for example)?

    Yeah, there is such a thing. The game, if not patched, crashes after jumping in the boat when you saved Dr. Johansen. What you need to do is the following...

    Stand close to the boat, but don't jump on it. Bring up the console by pressing ~ and type: SaveJohansen() Press Enter and immediately bring up the console for a second time, and type: ChangeLevel2 LA_hub_1 taxi_landmark

    The game should now warp you to Lacroix's headquarters, at the taxi stand in downtown LA.

    Not the right part, as he hasn't gotten to the Society of Leopold part yet. But thanks for the info in any case, I think I can search for the solution more easily with that info.
