I'm experiencing horrendous, unplayable lag in the outside of the Goblin fortress. It seems to happen most when there are lots of magical effects on the screen, but it will happen even when that is not the case. I don't get why this is happening, I have an excellent machine and it should not be. Cards a radeon 9800.

Anybody got any ideas as to why this is happening?

I utilized the fix that was there. Unfortunately the problem still seems to be occuring. I've narrowed it down to spell effects actually. Whenever area of effect spells or even minor target spells are being cast I seem to just lag heavily, at least in this area. The settings aren't even on max and I can't figure out why I continue to lag this way.

I had thought to try compatibility mode, but that didn't seem to work either, though it has increased load times a bit by playing iwd with compat:windows 2000, which I also do for bg and also helped with lag I was getting with that game in certain areas.

Is there anything I can do? Or is iwd just not designed for a (relatively) newer video card like I have?

Oh, please. Not the newest graphics drivers probelm again! :bang: IWD cannot run properly if you have the lates drivers (or perhaps anything relased in the past year). You might have to revert to older drivers (new card itself does not seem to be the problem).

Search for drivers in this forum and you should find Tal's report on the last driver compatible with IWD II.

Thanks for the post Vigilance...I ran into same problem. Fortunately for me the fix worked like a charmskie. Back to the goblin genocide.
