Hi. I have a little decision to make. Viconia died from poison while I was killing that iron golem at De' Arnise keep. I read somewhere that resurrection kills the romance and I want to do her romance quest. I just tried a search on the subject but couldn't find anything.
To avoid that possibility I can pull up my saved game from just before I killed it, but I hate killing that thing. I don't want to go through it again. It's one of the few parts of the game I dread and then there is the whole "Will she or won't she still like me?" question.
Has anyone out there resurrected Viconia? Was the romance still active? Any help would be so appreciated.
By the way, I don't have any mods. And I guess I have the latest patched version as I just bought it new a couple of months ago.

Can't help you on the romance question. I can offer another suggestion, though.

I assume the area you're talking about is the one with the golems guarding the 3 statues. Reload your saved game, and have Viccy cast Sanctuary. She can then go into the room and take the items. The golems will be activated, but they won't be able to see her. You can just leave, and you don't have to fight anything. Then you can finish the flail, and come back (if you want) to fight the golems with a better weapon (assuming someone has points in flails).

Oh yeah - you should install the official patch anyway; chances are your game was the original version. While you're at it, you might also consider installing the SP Fixpack after you've installed the official patch; it fixes a lot of other bugs.

I am not sure but I read here and other places that only petrification will end your romance, and only the one with Jaheira.

Resurrect Viccy and the drow should be as laszivious as before!

 

you can use Ctrl-R to instanly restore all lost HP if you dont mind cheatin' a little

 

Once, my romance with Viconia was destroyed after she had been imprisoned and freed.
Viconia has low Con: maybe she can't be brought back to life.

 

I dont know anything about the romance problem, but I do have some better tactical advice against the golems in the Keep.
Instead of looting the statues at once making all the golems attack you, just attack one golem at a time. When you attack one, the others wont get angry, so this way you can easily defeat these creatures since one lonesome golem never is a problem.

 

If you do not have the patch, raising her will kill the romance. As long as you're patched (which you should be), you can bring her back and be just fine.

 

She seems to like me just fine. Guess I'm patched. I don't even know how to find out.
But it is a little icky to have a girl hitting on me. I keep forgetting my character is a guy.

 

Then start again with a female and grab Anomen as your cleric. Avoid the compelled reaction to play hard-to-get because otherwise he'll just give up, snobby bastard's only interaction with women has probably been in the sleezy tavern you picked him up in.

Yeah I'm a girl. I tried Anomen and this is only a game, but he was sooo annoying. I would never date someone like him in real life. I played a guy this time so I could get some of the extra experience that comes from the romances.
I did some reading on this site and it seemed the general consensus was that Vic's romance supplied the most extra encounters. Guess I'll find out.
I do want to try the Kelsey mod but I'm really sketched about using mods in general. It seems like I would need more comp knowledge than I have right now. I couldn't even get SoA to run with ToB installed.

 

Well, Kelsey is pretty easy to install, but I can understand your hestitation.

You could always modify Anomen to be less annoying . *just realized that that would be a half-decent idea for a mod*

 

Another way to get into that room with the Golems and not get killed which works for me is have a party member hasted and then made invisible, get the stuf from the statue at the far right then work back towards the left and scram ASAP. Either that or if you only want the flail head, only take the flail head, then (as you would probably all know) the Golems just ignore you.

 

The best Viccy is a dead Viccy. I vote for leaving her as is. If you want another way to kill the golem, just use Boo's Furry Backside (i.e., a wand of cloudkill). The iron golem is too big to leave the room. Just cast a couple clouds on it and wait until it dies.

 

Well, I killed the golems by sloggin it out w/ the +4 hammer against giantkin. Used up all my healing potions like an idiot. I really try not to reload unless my boy dies.
