The title sais it all: Vietnamese fight back on Agent Orange.

IMO that's too little too late. The US went that far, under Clinton, to make the Vietnamese disclaimer for Agent Orange compensation condition for the restoration of diplomatic relations.

After all the US wars in Ssouth-East Asia - no excuse, no compensation, no nothing - eventually the hosts of US assistance were receiving 'aid' from the US - usually in form of a bomb - and 'Altlasten' - dangerous waste left behind: like DU dust, duds or Agent Orange. IMO the US have a tendency to save their clients to death.

Now it's up to the individuals to demand compensation - and only from the companies who produced that stuff - not from the country that sprayed it on them in a huge organised effort.

    Weird, weird world.

Huh. It took a lot just to get some help for the US victims of Agent Orange. If the US can barely be bothered to take care of its own, it should come as no surprise that the Vietnamese get next to nothing. And it's happening again.

The most surprising thing is it's the chemical company that has footed the bill in the U.S. settlement, and the chemical company that would have to foot the bill in this case too. It seems to me that the U.S. Army - which actually used the stuff - should have to take some responsibility here, but it is unlikely that will ever happen.

Common guys, does anyone ever repay their wardebts in full ? Get real for a minute. If everyone would live up to that, Germany would be completely bankrupt today, and STILL owe the world. Japan still has outstanding debts from the war which they refuse to pay. Some organisations didn't even get a simple apology for all the rape and plunder they had to go through under the Japanese occupation.

So why should the US do what nobody else does ?

And the Mongolians would have to pay a trillion dollars (inflation adjusted) for all their pillaging of the Roman Empire. Not likely.

Well, there may be still unpaid reparations from Germany's war out there. But then it was the German holocaust compensation that financed Israel's buildup after the war (US aid only started in the 1970s).
Germany compensated holocaust victims. Even though that cannot heal the wounds, it's a gesture.

In the case of Agent Orange there aren't even gestures.
