There's an incredibly evil computer virus out there right now, and Microsoft declared that it was the most destructive virus yet.

It's sent to everyone on the infected person's address book with the subject line: A Virtual Card for You! Or a similar line.

When opened, it freezes the computer. When ctrl+alt+del or the reset button is used, it deletes SECTOR 0 from your hard drive, where all vital hard disk operations are stored. Your hard drive will be DEAD! There is no way to restore information to this sector, and you will have lost everything on your hard disk.

Just wanted to put the alert out...McAfee and Norton have NOT developed a cure for this bug yet.

It is a hoax, but a virus that behaves that way is not impossible. But...

Quote: "...it deletes SECTOR 0 from your hard drive..."

Listen, there is a nice option under any newer BIOS that protects your BOOT sector from altering, so if you haven't used that option it is high time to put it on.

[IMG] Well let's pretend it was real just so I could say this:

So you can't hit ctrl+alt+del or reset or it wipes, but what if you just unplug the computer?

I dunno, what do you think? Shall we try it? Who volunteers?

Actually, I don't doubt it. Especially if you work through your home computer for a company.

I'll have to check with my aunt (the lawyer) on that one.
