The spells and the two items are old, from the era when I started modding. They may look overpowered but their price is high enough and they should be useful (and weird). The news is that it got a modern WeIDU installer so you can install it onto your game (and will work properly) no matter how many other mods you have installed. It is a mini-addon (5 new spells if I remember correctly and 2 very powerful items (The Volcano Blade, and Sulphurous Arrows))
If anyone decides to try it here it is: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/Volcano_Pack.zip

Hmmm... is there anywhere that says exactly what these things do *before* I install them? I don't want them to overbalance a game and then have to uninstall them to restore balance.

    As far as I remember:
    SPELLS:
Magnetic Impulse: paralyzation, save at -5
Weeping Ghost: more powerful version of Wail of the Banshee
Summon Giant: summons a fire giant with magical skills for 10 rounds
Enormous Self-Polymorph: shapeshifts the user to a form of a randomly chosen powerful creature, but you cannot regain your original form until duration expires
Angelic Bow - creates a +5 celestial bow temporarily
    ITEMS:
Volcano Blade +6: Firestorm, Summon Fire Elemental, various resistances and immunities
Sulphurous Arrows +3: acid and fire damage

Uninstallation is very easy and safe. Just run Volcano-Setup.exe, it will detect that it is installed and offer the uninstall/reinstall.

I see what you mean about overpowered. :(

But I'll give it a try anyway.

Many players accept and use even more overpowered addons, so these packs have their group of users. It may sound strange, but despite of I am a modder, I don't like overpowered mods, I rarely install unofficial mods at all. Testing is another thing of course.

    Have fun!

Most times when I see a mod that has several really powerful items in I think "woo-hoo! I'll really be able to kick some serious ass with this stuff!"

But then I remember playing mods like The Darkest Day where my characters practically got a hernia from carrying around vastly overpowered items which seemed to be more plentiful than apples and oranges. And after that I begin to wonder whether mods containing overpowered items are such a good idea.

Maybe one day someone will do a mod with "under"powered items that make the game really challenging.

I am sure there *are* such mods which already exist, and many under development. The TCs (total conversions) should also be balanced. Of course their items are usually not underpowered. It is already bad if the underpowered items try to make the mod challenging and balanced...
